I just checked your other post & I think the jacket looks fantastic on you. I don't see it as too young at all.

Do you have any white pants you can try it with? I'm not sure that it's working with these jeans & shoes - as always this is just my opinion:)

I am always trying to avoid the 'double denim' thing with my denim jackets, so they don't get worn as often as my non-denim ones.
As a casual dresser, I like the effect of my non-denim jackets as an outfit 'pick-me-up' too.
Still a place for them in my closet, but the non-denim are the most worn and far outnumber the denim.

Maybe it's the cut of the denim jacket. I have an denim jacket from a years ago that's really boxy, and then 2 years ago I got a new one that's cut just a smidge longer and slightly shaped. Not enough that if you saw it alone you would really notice, but when I compared the 2 it was oblivious, The 2nd new one works better for the tailored me.

Maybe it is a style persona thing (perhaps it is too casual?)

Or maybe it's just an intuitive sense that the proportions aren't the best. For me, jean jackets can be a bit boxy. I do like a cropped one with a dress or a skirt, but I don't like those jackets with pants.

I have seen Rae and Diana and several of our younger members wearing a short jacket with a long top underneath -- in some cases a SUPER short jacket!! And it can look amazing on them. But on me, something feels off with that proportion.

A long long time ago I had a thread where I played around with the proportions of various jackets in my closets. It was called Proportion play or something like that if you want to look it up. It included a couple of jean jackets. I showed with pants, a slim skirt, and a full skirt, for comparison.

sarah, that's interesting. It seems one always hears, just throw on a jean jacket and looks fab! And I am not finding it so. But maybe not so alone out there in the weeds.

There was a thread not too long ago - I can't remember if Suz started it - where we all sort of realized that we don't always like the way we look in jean jackets. I find myself constantly searching for the "perfect" one, and never finding it. So, I do they are very hard to fit, whereas a nice blazer can instantly make an outfit feel like it's taken up a notch.

I have posted some outfits wearing my new raspberry-fuchsia jean jacket, and outfits with various other jackets/blazers . I am enjoying it, and especially because the color is really good and goes with a lot of other items.
But, overall I find I like it better with a dress than with jeans or pants, and I like how I look in fitted blazers with jeans or pants better than the jean jacket, and maybe even for dresses too.

I know I tend to like blazer or tailored jacket lapels better, and probably the longer length of my blazer jackets, even the shortish ones, and maybe the jean jackets tend toward boxy.

But, is there a style persona clue there too? I feel more grown-up in my other jackets, and more veering toward too youngish or too SOMETHING with the jean jacket style.

Any dream-interpreters out there, or had similar reactions to different jacket styles yourself?
