You would want the plaid to be right for that so as not to be adding scarf just to correct color. For example, if you only like to wear pinks and reds near face, then this plaid is not it. Also, I would think whether I even need a scarf( for just nippy weather and a great plaid I would be more minimal; for extreme cold, I'd be wearing a longer coat anyway).<br /> The denim blue+ denim jeans works, but is not very snappy. If you have a few favorite sweaters or other knit tops in one or more solid colors that are in the plaid, I think you will enjoy the plaid a lot. If you have another solid pant that works(? I find that plaids create shapes-within-a-shape that can be fab or unflattering, depending on color, contrast, thickness of the lines, size of the squares, etc.&nbsp; A petite needs to be especially attentive to these details, I think. I just did a quick evaluation -- sorry no pic yet; my phone is MIA -- and it seems like the real workhorses in my winter accessory collection are solid colors:</p> <p>A red watch cap<br />Beanies in sage green and light grey<br />A merino scarf in olive green<br />A matching olive green watch cap<br />A charcoal cashmere scarf<br />Cranberry mittens<br />Light grey mittens</p> <p>I have one set of multicolored hat and gloves in rich fall colors that won't really work with either of these jackets -- but that's okay because they look great with solid black jackets or with my olive green coat.</p> <p>I have one plaid scarf, in black watch, but it's kind of scratchy so I only wear it when it's really really cold, which generally means I have a down puffy on.&nbsp;</p> <p>One of my goals for this winter is to build a little more variety into this capsule anyway (and try to tilt the color balance away from Autumn colors and towards some cooler, more saturated Winter colors), so the jacket purchase may just inform my future accessory shopping.&nbsp;</p> <p>The plaid will be more fun for me to wear, so that's where I'm leaning.&nbsp;</p> <p>AviaMariah -- I think the white flecks are just snow, or pseudo-snow, in the photo. Both will work with my wardrobe and complexion. I don't have any blue jackets, except for my down puffies (gear, not fashion-y). I have several lighter-weight black jackets, but all are solid black. I don't have any plaid, or otherwise patterned, jackets because I almost always buy with maximum versatility in mind. I worry perhaps the plaid will limit my options in terms of accessories and what I wear underneath, but it would look so nice over denim bottoms! </p>
