Classic. And so much (good) envy now... as it look warm and would fit perfectly on one of my tentative essembles with a new pair of thigh highs.

Keep it and take this jacket for a spin soon, please!

Thanks for the yay votes.
bj1111. Exactly. If I could find the leather skinnies that fit I would love that look.

Angie. Absolutely! I don't usually wear any jacket buttoned. I find it more comfortable and less "business" looking to leave them open. For the photo I just wanted to show the fit.

So now off to play in the closet. Fun times!

Exactly! When to hold 'em, when to fold 'em.
To me it could read nautical, which is a variant of military.
Is it " gone" or say could it be styled with slim BF , thin fluid Breton top, booties? Is the past I think it might have been worn fitted over wider trousers. Is that coming back in or do the bottoms need to be much different as in track pants with heels.

Unfrumped-Actually I prefer this cut on a blazer. It's fitted in the waist yet roomy through the shoulders and arms where I often feel the pinch.( I probably won't wear it buttoned when I wear it IRL, I just wanted to emphasize the cut and fit to determine its functionality.) however, I do like the fact that it fits my curves. When I saw the plaid jacket in Angie's ensemble post it made me think of the cut of this jacket since the plaid jacket seemed to be more form fitting with its equestrian feel. So that lead me to thinking, as someone who enjoys thrifting, about how to classify a find. When it has good workmanship and nice fabrication, I tend to want to make it work. But really where should the line be drawn for retro, classic, outdated and even (the kiss of death) "tired" pieces that should just be left hanging on the sale racks?

It seems more statement than classic due to multiple buttons and flap pockets. Doesn't look like things I'm seeing " out there" because it's form- fitting( though I expect the pendulum will swing. but that doesn't mean you can't combine it with more
modern items. What is your goal ?
Maybe there is some aspect of the newer soft belted looks that this could evoke since it has a lot of structure. How do you like it compared to modern jackets and toppers?

I like it. The fit looks good and it suits your figure.

Double breasted jackets are showing up on Net-A-Porter by designers such as Balmain so I think your find may be a good one especially since the fabrication is nice quality. You can look on their site to see how they have styled these jackets in a modern way.

Alaskagirl- I was thinking it was a little military especially if I button it. I was thinking of styling it with boyfriend jeans (either white or distressed) and a plaid shirt with ankle booties. But also slim ponte pants in black with a gray turtleneck and cognac knee boots. (Angie's post in wearing multiple neutrals inspired that idea). Any other styling suggestions?

This looks current to me! It seems more military than equestrian, but those overlap and both are excellent looks!

Here's a quick pic of the jacket I asked about in the main ensemble post. It's a very well made tailored navy wool Evan Picone blazer that I thrifted a few years ago. It's still in perfect shape (a little rumpled now!) and I would love to get some wear out of it. The fit is very slim but not uncomfortable. I can move easily in it. The trouble is I'm not sure about the cut, shoulder padding etc. so any thought are appreciated! Please overlook the rest of my "outfit" i am truly in weekend relaxing before bed time mode! :)

Thanks everyone!
