I did order the blazer in a small, and unbelievably, it is still a bit large. Normally I wear an M or even an L. I decided to stay with it since it is a heavier knit and I will probably wear it over layers beginning some time in November.

Thanks for everyone's input on this. I might make it into a store and try on an XS just to see.

I'm a bit late on this but I just purchased this sweater blazer in Vintage Cabernet today so I thought I'd chime in in case it helps someone. I usually wear an XS at JC or a SP or 4P. I sized down to XXS and it's perfect.
For reference I am 5' tall, 30DD bust.

Fantastic sweater blazer! I'm stalking the website hoping black comes back into stock.

*for reference, I nearly always take a Small petite in Jcrew tops and coats.

Mind you, I am a petite, and this is a regular, but YES it definitely runs large!

I ordered it in a small in black. It would probably fit better in an XS. I went to the store, all they had was an XXS. That one was too small. I just ordered the extra-small burgundy to compare, I have a hunch that one will be just right width and shoulder wise, though still on the long-ish side since I'm short.

I'm still holding on to the small/black one as even though it is too big, I kind of like the look. It fits me totally different than the picture on the web site -- more like slouchy coatigan than a blazer. With plenty of room to layer to my heart's content underneath. Something about it really reminds me of the 80s. I swear I once had a blazer that fit like this in the 80s! So I'm hanging on to it as I am having major (and surprising) nostalgia. But the burgundy XS may arrive and change my mind...

I have the last year version and I sized down. I could even have gone down two sizes.

Thanks Joy and Sheryl--I'll try the small then. The mall I usually go to is being remodeled and it's a hassle to go there to try things on, so I buy more stuff online. Overall I've done pretty well with sizing.

I would suggest you size down from your usual size. I am always a size L or XL at J Crew, and L was way too big.

I bought sImilar burgundy knit jacket (Halogen?) from NAS and sized down but it is still too large and will be returned. It also looks faded, not the rich color I was expecting. Can you order 2 sizes to try?

Anyone tried this merino sweater-blazer from J Crew? (It comes in gray and black as well as burgundy.)

The website says it runs large, so size down one from your usual size. Looking at the size guide, I'd be making a mistake if I bought a small even if it does run a bit big.
