Once you get the sizes tweaked as you like I think you're going to enjoy wearing these items.  I like the blouse tucked and sem-tucked. I agree it can be harder to get a semi tuck right with certain fabrics and blouse shapes. That neckline seems to make it harder somehow, I don't know why. I do like the full tuck on you a lot as well.  I wonder about the sizing on the tees...I am not sure you need smaller because in the shoulder area it looks as if these are as snug as you would probably like? But I guess comparison is never a bad thing. It will be good to see how different they are.  The sailor jeans are amazing on you!! Happy belated birthday! I like them too, though they are an item I never would have independently selected. The olive is a really good mix with some other colors, and much less expected than my usual gray or navy or black. They do look a little old-lady office-ish, but I still like them. I also tried the paisley blouse, which I think  I will keep (though I would have preferred a v neck and more vertical ruffles) and the leopard twinset, which I am definitely keeping. I haven't been comfortable with tucking for years, and now I realize it's because pants and jeans were low-cut and it wasn't a good look with my body. I am also short of waist and find that only certain tops can be tucked in without looking grossly out of proportion. I think from these photos there is a " sweet spot" waist, or rise, which is about where the sailor and jeans hit you. With these, a full tuck is fabulous and waist- defining and if I looked like that I would tuck all the time! Of course you can wear a high- rise tucked, but it seems to cut you off more. And the semi- tuck looks best to me with lower rises usually. Anyway, it looks much on me as it does on you. It's like an upscale sweatshirt. BUT, I have already worn it twice, and it's been such a nice thing to reach for on a cool day. Sterling - Thanks!  Seeing the photo of the sailor jeans it looks like I actually have some legs!  (I'm 5'2", so I don't really) Liz - I shut the bedroom door to take the photos, so of course the cats wanted to be on the other side of the door.  ;) K. Period  and Karie - I tried some toothpick jeans on a few weeks ago and they did seem to run a bit small.  These Martie pants are really small though -- snug!!  And they seem even tighter today than yesterday.... hmmm....  I do wonder if they stretch out a bit when wearing them since they're made of bi-stretch wool??  Or did you have to size up a size? Texstyle - LOL re the cats echoing the birds.  The colorblock sweater made me feel a bit square.  I should try it again and unsnap one of the side snaps. Smittie - Is full tuck still considered stylish? It seems that all I see is the faux and half tuck in magazines, and I really can't figure out how I can pull it off with my body type.  I'm much happier with a full tuck, providing I don't need to wear a belt.  (I hate belts on me)  I've added photos #9 and #10 to show the full tuck. I didn’t have a lot of time to try them on and play with styling as I needed to get my son to soccer practice, but I thought I’d post my initial reviews. Please pardon my hair (it is getting cut and colored on Monday - not a minute too so) and the poor lighting. Photo #1 and #2 Banana Republic sailor jean: I ordered these in both a P0 and P2 (P2 is my usual size) since I read that these ran large. The P2 were too big, but the P0 fit well. These are very long though!  In the first photo I’m in my bare feet. In the 2nd photo I’m wearing boots with about a 2-1/2 inch heel. If I keep these jeans they will need to be shortened. J Crew bird life art T-shirt. I read this ran very small. I usually wear a size XS or S in J Crew tees, and sized up to a medium. I have a bit of extra room in the tee, but it’s 100% cotton so I’m assuming it will shrink a bit. Photo #3 J crew Martie Pant in bi-stretch wool: These ran very small. I am normally a P2 in J Crew pants and have to have the waist taken it by the tailor. These are a P2 and there was no extra room whatsoever in the waist of these.   J Crew ruffle-front chiffon top in paisley: I got this in my usual top size, P4. The top fit fine, but I’ve never figured out how to do the faux or half-tuck. I’m very straight in the middle and have no defined waist, and I always feel tucking things in accentuates my middle.   Photo #4 J Crew matte crepe trouser in navy. Angie said to size down, so I got these in a P0. I was very surprised that I liked these. The elasticized back waist had me worried they’d look like Grandma Pants.   Photo #5 J Crew matte crepe trouser in navy. P2. These definitely run large. I like the P0 in thes trousers better.   Photo #6 J Crew blue heron art T-shirt. Again, I sized up in this to a medium. This shirt ran larger than the bird life one and is a different weight --- more of a tissue tee. The bird life one is a medium weight tee. I’m not sure if I should try this in a size small or if the medium will shrink. I’m thinking this shirt works better on someone with a longer torso.   Photo #7 and #8 J Crew Colorblock crewneck sweater with side snaps. Size Small. I really liked this sweater on Viva, but it doesn’t do much for me.
