Alexandra - Sometimes I just wish the stores had 1 demo model of everything to try on and then let us ship what we want to our house.   kkards - I will check into ordering from the store.  I asked about shipping to the store and they didn't have that option.  I was at a mall store.  They had a lot of stuff just not my old stanby vnecks :) unfrumped -  I agree with you on crazy sizing.  I have to try everything on.   Sveta -  I'm so excited you are getting that Pointelle sweater! I bet it will be brilliant on you.  Yikes, JC really does need to work on their shipping policy.  It's not competitive with other US retailers and sounds really brutal in Canada.   Suz - Thanks.  I didn't go empty handed.  I found a sweater at BR and I am still pondering that orchid turtleneck.  I think we have similar coloring and I've seen you do that orchid color well. They are an essential workhorse in my winter wardrobe because I layer them under everything--jackets, sweaters, short-sleeve/sleeveless tops, shirts--you name it. I don't size up since my regular size is a nice fluid fit, not too baggy and not too tight. I toss them in the regular wash and the dryer and have never had a problem with shrinkage or pilling. They come in a host of colors and stripes. And (this is a big one for me) the turtlenecks don't fit too tightly so they stay scrunched down around my neck. I wasn't blessed with an overly long neck, and age hasn't helped in this regard, so too many T-necks are off limits because they look like they are swallowing me whole. These are just perfect. My only caution is that they are light-weight cotton so they may not suit those who are looking for a substantial T-neck that can serve as a thicker outer layer on its own. Can you tell that I think the orchid one ought to come home with you? I have it and the color is a real pick-me-up this time of year. This ivory sweater is in transit to me and should be here tomorrow - I am encouraged by your review that it has a good chance to be a winner. I like JCrew stuff but their online shopping is not the most user friendly. For Canada returns are especially brutal as they do not provide a prepaid label so you return on full mail price AND have to buy insurance - ouch! I wanted to try on some v-neck merino sweaters while I was there.  I didn't see any in the store and asked the associate if they had any.  He informed me that they are just carrying the more "Boutique"  items in the store and the "more common" items are just available online.  Is this new? I guess I can understand this but I still was hoping for an in-store try on since their shipping is not free.  And I do wish that retailers would align the Retail and Online channels more so that everything you can do online you can do at the store. I suppose that would be a space issue though.   I also tried on this gorgeous ivory wool sweater and would highly recommend it.  It was a bit boxy for me but the the wool was light weight and felt wonderful.  I also tried on this tissue turtle neck in orchid which is very thin but the color was brilliant and it would be great if you like to layer your turtlenecks under something. I am still trying to think of a reason I might need this orchid turtle neck.
