I second Aisha's question- has anyone tried the Sutton Studio sweaters? How are they on fit- they do seem to be quite loose on the models on the Bloomies website, and they dont' come in Xs......

Hi- I got the shrunken shawl cardigan in geranium and it is my favorite piece of clothing- just wearing the color makes me happy- I was going to get yet another black cardigan, yet the resident JCrew expert, Ana, suggested this one and I am thrilled . I think you will be too.
Now I've got my eye on the clover one that Patience modeled the other day.
I'm a confirmed JCrew lover~

Hmm

Lots to think about

Thanks though ana for letting me know that the colours are a bit lighter in person...wow the difference in the green colour is amazing!

And thanks Lissy for the link to bloomingdales, those are some amazing deals! And I do like the magenta colour...Lissy have you seen/tried on these sweaters in person? I'm just wondering about the fit, they look very loose on the models...?

I agree with Ana.
However, there are some great colors at Bloomingdales right now. I particularly like the electric blue and the magenta:
http://www1.bloomingdales.com/.....e%26n%3D33

On sale, down from $129 to $63! The size/color selection might be running thin, though.

Aisha, I bought the geranium color shawl collar cardigan, and all their colors are a little lighter than they are showing online. It's not really red the way it looks on the computer, it's a very bright vibrant reddish pink. The cardigan is very cropped (it falls above my hip bone). I don't have a picture of myself wearing it, but here's Patience wearing it on another thread:

http://i282.photobucket.com/al....._block.jpg

That's the fresh clover color. See how it's a bit lighter in person?

My biggest issue with cashmere from lots of other places is that it's usually available only in neutrals and pastels, neither of which are that great on me. The quality is higher though if you go with a department store like Sak's, Bloomingdale's or Nordie's, I do agree with that. It's just that a plain black or lilac colored sweater doesn't excite me that much, so even if the thing is fantastic and will last me the rest of my life, I'd probably end up never wearing it. If you want bright colors and stuff, then you'll probably have to sacrifice on quality a bit (which is unfortunate). But if you're looking for neutrals, I'd probably go with a more expensive department store line, because if you do want a black sweater or whatever, you might as well get a great one if it's available. Make sense?

They have some beautiful styles though! I love the cupcake cardigan (although I wish it came in more colours) and the rosette cardigan.

I have had mixed experiences with Jcrew cashmere. They do pill like Ana said, but they have great options and colors that it is hard to resist.

I have found that Sutton Studio (Bloomingdale's brand) has great cashmere, and they always go on sale. They don't have the large color selection that Jcrew does, but they have some great basic cardigans and v neck sweaters. They are great quality, and sometimes, their prices fall below Jcrew when they go on sale. I just bought two spring weight cardigans for $60 each online.

I was thinking of the basic Vneck (since I find Vnecks nice and elongating) and the shrunken shawl collar cardigan. Is the shrunken shawl collar cardigan quite cropped? Thats the only thing I wasn't sure of, if it would look good with a larger bust. Do you have a pic of yourself wearing the cardy?

I like the cardigan in the geranium colour. Has anybody seen this colour in person, is it a true red?

Which styles are you thinking of ordering Aisha? I have the shrunken shawl collar sweater and it's awesome. Also, J. Crew cashmere tends to run large. I take a small or medium from JC and in their cashmere, I always take a small.

I guess for $99 (on sale right now) I won't be able to complain too much!

THat is one of the things that I was drawn to Ana, the number of colours that they offer and the styles.

I have some of their featherweight merino sweaters right now and haven't noticed too much pilling but I have snagged a few threads. But that's easy enough to rectify, just pull the thread to the back.

I do have a sweater shaver as well and I get a lot of use out of it during the winter months

Thanks Ana, I think I will order a few

I've heard this as well, but I have several things from J. Crew that are cashmere and haven't had issues with pilling at all. Granted, they are still fairly new (less than a year old) and I'm not wearing them constantly or anything. Their heavier cashmere/merino blends do pill quite a bit though (under the arms where there's friction). It's not enough to bother me, because the pills are big and easy to shave off (I have a sweater shaver). The lighter weight merino sweaters pill a bit as well, but only at first. After I shave them a few times, I haven't had that problem, so I think it's just the loose fibers working their way out. The sweater isn't threadbare afterwards or anything like that.

The thing about J. Crew cashmere is that they offer a lot of variety in it as far as styling and color, which I haven't found many other places. It's also on the less expensive side as far as cashmere goes, and you get what you pay for. So, I think it's really a balance--you're getting something that is decent quality (not stellar) with lots of choice for "relatively" less money, but the trade off is that you may have to invest in a sweater shaver and spend a bit of extra time looking after your cashmere. That's sort of the conclusion I've come to.

Is anybody familiar with the quality of JCrew Cashmere? I'm debating on picking up a couple of cashmere sweaters from JCrew but I've heard that their cashmere pills quite easily.
