They are about a mid rise on me, which I like, and there was no gaping at the waist (which is rare.) the only thing I didn't like was the leg opening - I wish it was more tapered. The reviews seem to suggest that they might work well for pears. Honestly, I've given up on J Crew pants, as they seem better suited for more rectangular figures.
