I appreciate this example because I've been tempted to buy some things like this even now in order to meet comfort goals and be able to wear certain colors, etc. I really have to say PPP over & over. I think's it's okay to keep an item or 2 that are fall-backs for certain activities or maybe a pair of pants or skirt for which you don't have any better option. The thing I try to remember is to not build much new around that but to add a new goal item to the wish list. I remember buying them on super sale with a pitter patter in my heart he he.  $13 instead of $80 or something like that.   They are perfectly neutral, but now I also have my blush metal plate sandals and my python gladiators, both of which feel much more like me.  Last time I wore them was in Tahoe spring with snow still on the ground, but warming temps (pic4).  Oh, and to work a wedding when I wore a skirt for my black and whites in the heat (pic5). yay - keep.  good walking shoes are great to have nay - purge.  They are so not you Thanks!
