Angie, thanks answering about the hem. I’m bad with eyeballing measurements.

I got returned the sweater in #6. It was in fact a petite size (hence the length) but regardless, too tight on my arms. Since the other red sweater is wonderfully comfortable, and I love it to bits, I kept that instead and wore it twice already.

#6 might be better for skirts.

Great new cords, and maybe a 2.5 inch hem.

shiny, happy to enable you! I generally can't layer knits under anything (arms on blazers and sweaters are too tight for that usually). But I'm happy to have a piece I can wear almost 3/4 of the year. I'm sure this sweater and the cords will look good together... I have NO leopard anymore except in a cool toned pullover, though.

The AT sweater is very nice, but yeah, something is off, on me.

karen13, I don't love sweater weather generally, but I do like sweaters!

More love for the Bowie shirt - I was just listening to Hunky Dory on my xc ski yesterday. I really like the Fair Isle/ Cords on you as well as the Anthro red. I love sweater weather.

I LOVE the color and fit of that anthro sweater on you! Glad to hear it's staying!

Thanks to you, I just went and ordered a red sweater. You just look so great in it! But I can't do mock or turtlenecks as my neck is short and stocky and the fabric around the neck always irritates me, so I went stalking for a crew or V neck or cowl neck. I found a petite merino wool crew neck at the GAP, on sale. Cross fingers it works out.

I like the idea of a thin lightweight layering type of sweater. To wear on its own in milder weather, and to layer under blazers in colder weather.

I also liked the fit of the AT sweater on you but maybe not the ribbing over the bust. You do look great in a body hugging sweater like that which accentuates your tiny waist. Sleeves seemed a good length (luxurious length) too.

The fair isle is gorgeous and I love how the pattern draws the eye up to your face. It looks fantastic with the burgundy cords!!

Have you tried the red anthro sweater with those cords? I love burgundy and apple red together. Add some leopard print (bag, shoes).

Joy, thank you, and I never thought about pants that way. I can try them as is and decide later to hem if I don’t like them.

JAileen, Born has been a lifesaver for me since I’ve needed new boots.

shevia, I loved wearing the mofkneck today. I think it will be versatile, too.

Christina. You have found many great looking pieces. I am glad that you are keeping the Anthro red sweater as is. I like the fluid shape. I like some scrunch in pants so they ride not riding up too much when seated.

smittie, yeah. I don’t have a poison eye for it per se, but I have trouble picturing wanting to wear it that way myself. I’d order a petite size but they are gone. I am thinking I want a good 3 inches off. These are a bit longer than advertised for sure, but fortunately that’s a fixable problem.

My Boden skirt is finally out for delivery! After 3.5 weeks.

Sorry I forgot to answer the question about the scrunched leg. I too prefer non scrunch. But I have a poison eye for all scrunch, be it on a skinny or strait leg. I seem to remember Angie saying scrunch is coming back! But in the scrunch issue, I always prefer not to have it.

Thanks everyone, I think there is a clear preference for the mock neck sweater. That was mine as well since the other red sweater is too tight on the arms.

The rib knit sweater is actually navy with some black woven in. I agree it needs to go back. The fabric is very pretty, but not on me. Back it goes.

Katerina, I have a black rubbed sweater from Boden, actually. The ribs are smaller and it’s not shiny. Maybe I should have just duplicated this one in navy, but I wanted a different neckline. No matter, as its not a strong need.

As for the corduroys, I’m not used to a scrunched leg. I think I’d prefer them to be the length from the stock photo,
but maybe I should try something new. But I’ll see if Angie has a chance to weigh in before I do anything about it

You have found som great pieces. Love the fair isle sweater especially.
The red sweater in 5 looks perfect on you, love it. No contest with no 4.
The black ribbed sweater is ok, but I think you will find a perfect black sweater. The fit of this one is somehow off, I cannot put a finger on it. I would return this one.
I am afraid I cannot advice on the length of the corduroys, just wanted to say that they look great, love the colour too!

I prefer the higher neck red sweater and think the fit looks perfect. The other one just looks sorta like a tee.
As for the black shiny ribbed sweater, you’re right, it’s ok but not fab. I think the ribs look a bit strained over your bust— a problem I often have too- and that makes it look less than fab.

You have made a great assessment, I agree with you on all of these. I love the colour red on you, but given both sweaters are similar, I would go with the one that fits best. As for the rib knit sweater, I find the vertical lines a bit distracting. This may be a good layering piece, but I much prefer the other knits to this one. For me that would be the definite return.

Suz, it’s a 9 inch rise. I guess that’s similar to the Dres? That’s medium rise and hits about the belly button on me. I think I have an average rise though I’m short waisted. Hope that helps!

You had me with the Bowie tee. :)

The Kuts look terrific. Are they high or low waisted? I am looking for an update to my burgundy Dres which are medium low waisted on me (but in all other respects one of my favourite jeans ever.)

Fit on the Anthro red sweater looks better to me overall so I would go with that.

love the bowie shirt and the slim fit crew. i think the trend is for closer fitting tops. the mock neck is also nice especially in a finer gauge. why don't you keep both for a while and see which one you reach for when you put together outfits.

Time to review Black Friday and early December purchases. I’m still waiting for large haul that J.Crew mostly has refused to send me. I’m also waiting for a skirt from Boden that my local post office seemed to have,!
but then mysteriously sent to a new location. I need to go ask them where it is. Anyway.

I have a few keepers, a red sweater question, and a hem question. Also, I have an item I know I want to pass on.

Keepers:
1. Lucky Brand Fair Isle - love! Not too heavy at all, but I can layer under it if needed. Great colors.

2. Born Regis booties - this is a continuation of my quest for booties that don’t exacerbate my back pain. I think these will be good. Not as good as my Born Chelsea boots, but I also needed a different toe shape in a black boot to make some outfits work. These will replace my Sam Edelman Petty booties, which are too hard on me now.

3. Lucky Brand Bowie tee - threw this in for fun. This will mostly be for casualwear but maybe fun under a blazer.

Questions:

4. Kut corduroys - I was pleased to see someone create a find with these corduroys in this rich color. I returned some Kut burgundy jeans from NAS because the color was too close to a faded brick red. THIS is the color I really wanted. I don’t usually do corduroys, but the fine whale here makes them okay for me. I want to hem them, but how much? Definitely want to keep, especially now that I have this sweater! ETA - photo angle not as good as it could be.

5: Anthropologie Audrey Mockneck - my keyboard is dead, so I can’t create a find. Basically, I’ve been looking for a true red sweater, solid colored, to wear with various bottoms. I think this one is the winner after a long search, but I think I may need to size down. Or should it remain fluid? Thoughts? ETA - made a custom find of it.

6. Loft red sweater - this was my other sweater contender. I do like this, but the sleeves are slightly tight. I think they might stretch over time, but I think the other sweater, which is a finer guage, will be more useful overall. Or maybe chunkier is in? I’m trying to find an “essential” in red, basically. My gut tells me to return this and make the Anthro sweater work (either in this size or one down). Thoughts? ETA - The other one is slightly see-through, and I usually wear dark bottoms, so this one has an advantage on that score.

ETA - Anthro sweater is staying. I made an outfit of it today with the new boots. Added a pic of that. The LOFT sweater is going to go back.

Loser:
7. Ann Taylor ribbed pullover - I think this is a very pretty sweater. I’m just not feeling it, though. Too shiny, maybe. I’m not wrong in thinking this is just OK on me? I need things to be better than just OK....
