I am married to a true summer-lover, and we always begin a tense dance in August, when I start getting exciting about the impending cooler days and he starts bemoaning the loss of heat. The only reason I'd want cooler weather is to try some of the style ideas I've gotten here at YLF, and some NAS clothing, but a few days would be enough. Although we have a much more mild winter than many on the forum, S.A.D. affects me, so the more hours of sunlight the better. We've had a lot of days where the temperature was hotter than expected, by 10-20 degrees, so dressing can be challenging. We had an exceptionally humid summer this year - very different from the past several which were nice and dry, though HOT as usual. I always look forward to fall/winter here as it is more like spring weather in other places. I bet if I asked all the people I know "what's your favourite season," at least three-quarters of them would say autumn.  What kind of climate do you live in? Maybe that makes a difference. People who suffer through a hot, humid summer are often relieved when fall arrives, but I imagine it would be harder to say goodbye to a summer that is pleasant and warm. I like all the seasons (although I've been known to whine a lot when it gets too hot in the summer!), but what I like the most is the CHANGE in seasons. We live in a four-season climate, and by the end of each one, I'm anxious for the next one to start. ETA just read through the posts and I see that you've answered my question already -- you live in a climate where summer is too short! And the food! I love when it gets cool enough to bake without heating yourself right out of the house. Being able to bring out the sweaters and jeans and boots again is always so exciting -- those are my favorite wardrobe categories. I'm still waiting this year, it's been so unseasonably warm. I keep wondering when I'll be done with shorts and sandals. Definitely ready.  What I don't love is late winter/spring. By then, I'm tired of layers, tired of worrying about mud all over my shoes and pants, tired of trying to figure out where two matching gloves are every morning... It's cool enough to be comfy and to let me wear things like jackets and boots, but still pleasant, mostly sunny, and dry. The colors are beautiful and I appreciate being able to go outside without feeling like I'm stepping into a pot of soup! Plus I can cook and knit without cranking up the AC to Arctic levels! ;) Summer is hot and humid here. I find it miserable. ETA: I don't actually mind winter except for having to commute in the snow. :(. And spring is pretty nice here, but I am allergic to spring tree pollen so I prefer autumn. I know it technically starts Thursday, but the forecast is for a 30 degree temperature drop that day too. Sunday it was 93F and Thursday it's supposed to be 60F. Okay, so that's a 33 degree drop. I think those who like hot weather have less than we have. We don't have humidity, but we have 90s for three months. It seems that most Fabbers like Autumn. As Liz wisely says, I understand that it much depends on climate and personal preferences.  Here: shortish Summer, more or less 2 months - June is warmish but can have cold days, July and August are warm with a typical fortnight of tropical heat (35-40 degrees Celsius and a lot of humidity, tons of mosquitoes, you feel sticky and exhausted all day - that is tough, I admit). Then 3 months of super-humid Autumn, depressive grey sky, boring drizzles and cervical arthritis. Then 3 months of cold, gloomy Winter, days are short, you get up in the darkness and at 5 p.m. it's dark again.  When  you have this scenario in front of you, you feel discouraged. But I understand that if I had to stand 4 full months of heat and humidity at a certain point I also wished some cool weather!
