Yes -- there will be a hack-fest with the current jacket. Nothing to lose. It may well be a vest by the time I'm done. ;)

I, too, balk at paying $$$ for a denim jacket; I still haven't come round to designer denim in any form -- have yet to find a brand that fits me any better or lasts longer than plain old Levi's.

I bought one last year at Macy's. I think it was one of their brands. On sale it was about $40.

I would definitely chop off your jacket's collar. I had a jeans jacket I never wore because the sleeves were tight. I chopped them off without a problem. I've also seen jackets with that band at the bottom removed -- just in case your current jacket isn't cropped enough.

I found my white jeans jacket at Nordstrom Rack. I would also try F21 in addition to the places others have mentioned. Somehow, I can't wrap my mind around paying more than $100 for a plain jeans jacket.

I have a white denim (with some stretch) jacket that I found at Kohls a couple years ago. They seem to have them each spring. In previous years they've had pale pink jackets and if they do again this season I will get one as my nod to the blush trend.

Re: Angie's links, above... I cannot imagine spending $580 for a denim jacket, under any circumstances. I guess that people do, but holy cow, that seems insane to me.

Thanks for all the inspiration!

I actually do have a white denim jacket, "adopted" from the one-dollar rack at the thrift store. It has a stubborn highlighter-yellow stain on the collar, so it's probably not a keeper, but it has convinced me that I need a white denim jacket.

I very much like the look of this collarless one from Rag&Bone, but it's way out of my price range, so my first step might be to chop the collar off my $1 jacket and see what it looks like.

Mine is also from American Eagle and I like the fit. I also like my pale wash jean jacket from Target. I sized up to get a slightly oversized look.

Mine is from American Eagle a few years ago. I don't see a white one on the site right now but it's worth keeping an eye out. Their denim jackets are usually cut shorter than many other brands.

I love my white denim jacket. Like you I mostly wear it with skirts and dresses in the summer.

Mine is actually from the KIDS' section at Old Navy, from a few years ago. I think I paid all of $12 on sale, and it is slightly cropped on 5'4" me, and still going strong. The photo shows the women's version but mine looks identical. It has a bit of stretch.

My shoulders are not at all broad but are quite square for my height (about 38 or 39 inches around) and the kids' version has enough stretch that it feels fine on me. My arms are not large, though, which also makes a difference. And I'm small busted.

I stumbled across this one from H&M this morning. What I liked is that it doesn't appear to be optic white, but more a creamy color (note I haven't seen it in person)...and the buttons are the same color as the jacket

I'm in search of a denim jacket to wear mostly over dresses and skirts, so a little cropped and fitted would probably be best. I find denim jackets incredibly difficult to fit. I'm a 32A with proportionally broad shoulders, and I feel like the traditional denim trucker jackets tend to give me a bulked-up "football player" kind of look. I'm guessing fitted with a bit of stretch is key. And maybe smaller lapels or collarless?

I love this Madewell one, though it looks like it's already OOS in my size and possibly longer than I want anyway. I'm not totally opposed to something very straightforward like the Eddie Bauer one, but in my heart of hearts would like a little more interest, a twist of some sort.

I really like the idea of white, or possibly light-wash. Nothing too distressed, not interested in embroidery or embellishment.

Any ideas? Would love links and Finds to browse. TIA!
