Traci, those particular pants may go only up to a 14, but most other ones at the Limited go up to 16, so it might be worth at least looking.

Thistle, I will keep an eye out for an EF dress that suits my needs. I haven't seen any yet that have the twisted middle.

Inge: I like sleeveless because I'll almost always wear it layered with a topper.
I will check out those gap pants.

I'm petite, so for the boots I need a 14 inch or shorter shaft height, but 15.5 in circumference. I'm also super picky about baggy ankles in boots. I like the shape of my ankle to show. However, my workhorse black boots are slouchy, so the whole ankle idea goes out the window. For the boots and booties I like a 2 in heel or less. I really prefer either a 1-1.5 in or a small platform in front to balance out the heel. I find in the lower heights the heels are almost always blocks. I prefer a bit of a taper. This is the toughest part.

Ingunn's vneck is probably what has inspired my search for a navy pullover. Hers is perfect. Going to the source is a good idea!

Carter, thanks! I've really had to learn that the items that don't really excite me so much are the most important items to my wardrobe. I hope to be able to find some nicer version of those core pieces this year.

Alana, there's definitely something to be said for repeating the process for a few years. My fall list last year had about 10-12 items on it.

Parsley, those pants look very similar to my Target pants. I like the idea of navy. I'm currently sized out of Limited tho, at a 16.

Suz, it's definitely tough, and made even tougher because I have passable items already. They all need replacing, but I'd rather wear my worn version than a worse fitting version. I need to take my own medicine and hit the stores to try try try. I have a girls' weekend in Chicago coming up. That might be the perfect opportunity to find these items.

You sound incredibly focused, Traci. Sometimes that makes it harder to shop -- you know what you want but can't find it. YLF to the rescue!

I'm not as good with suggestions as the others here but wanted to applaud your organization. Every one of these pieces sounds like a wardrobe essential for you.

Here are some fabulous black (or navy) cigarette pants, for a good price:
http://www.thelimited.com/prod.....39498.html?
I never shop at the Limited, but these were highly recommended on a blog, and they are a great basic pant. I bought two of them!

I think this is a great list, too. I still feel a bit unprepared for fall/winter and I'm floundering around a bit. I hope you find your items!

Really, really great list in its detail and clarity! This is exactly what I want to be able to do. I tend to do it backwards...make a list of things I want...shop for lots of good stuff...pull out next season's capsule to see if it plays nicely...make a list of things I really need. You must have great command of your wardrobe. Kudos to you!

ETA: Eric Bompard does good quality cashmere (I believe Ingunn is very happy with her navy pullover). There are several V-neck styles on the website, many of them available in navy:
http://www.eric-bompard.com/la.....vers-women

Excellent job evaluating your wardrobe needs for the new season, Traci.

I really like the Gap True Straight Pants (although they do pick up lint easily) as a cigarette pant option.

A few questions about the other items:

1. Dress
- Do you want long sleeves, Traci, or is sleeveless/short sleeves also OK?

2. Dressy-ish black boots
- Are you looking for knee-high boots?
- What's the maximal heel height you are thinking of?

3. Black booties
- Which heel height would you like for those?

Sounds like a fab list. You are really on top of this.

Not sure your budget, but there have be some fab EF picks for dresses from Angie. As you already know it'll be a workhorse, might be worth the splurge.

I'm reviewing my closet for fall and there are only a couple of items I feel like I need to replace. I'm not really feeling the need yet for anything new. I'm excited to get back into my old fall and winter clothes.
The three replacements I need are

-Black twisted waist dress. I had this old, cheapy knit dress I got from Dorothy Perkins and it became my FFBO. It took me to a funeral, through a photo session and through many other random days. I overlooked it for a long time because I didn't like the way the rouching and waistband and all brought attention to my belly, but then I discovered that under a topper of any sort it was really just the ticket. I'd like the same idea of a dress, but in a nicer fabrication. If you see a great one, will you let me know?

-Black cigarette pants. These are on my list every year and the only pair I've found that I really like are from Target. I either need to just pick up another pair from Target or find a better quality pair.

-Dressy-ish black boot. I have a pair of beaten up suede, slouchy boots with a lowish cone shaped heal that do not sing to me on their own, but they are the perfect balance to dresses in winter. Bonus, they're super duper comfy. I need a replacement pair. I'd love for them to be in leather instead of suede. I've been looking for these for a couple of years too.

The only new item I'm looking for right now is a slouchy, navy, cashmere sweater. I'd like it to be really fine quality, and rather light weight so I can wear it indoors. Not a crew neck, but wide V or scoop neck would be okay. Length on this one would be tough. In find half tucks tough with my proportions because my waist is already short, so ideally this sweater would have a waist band rather than a straight bottom.

I'd like to find a perfect pair of uber comfy black booties and a great pair of straight leg jeans, but I'll be okay without them.

I have so many toppers that I really need to stop there. This is what made me realize I need the black dress, because my toppers need to top something!
