This model doesn't have a very full bust, so it looks cute on her. If your bust is full, I would pass on this.

It is a cute top but with so many variables the only way to know is to try it!

I don't like it on the model at all. I think it really depends on the bustline and also how short-waisted or not one is. Worth a try to find out.

Like Chrizzle says, results depend on your bust and hips. Personally, with a narrower hip but big booty and a fuller bust, I find I like banded styles (where there's no further flare after the narrowing in) better than the tie and flare. Also, I think it helps for the fabric to be non only non-clingy, but also fluid --- a stiffer or very lightweight weave doesn't work as well, and may actually *add* bulk.

Chrizzle said exactly what I was going to. Maybe it depends on how busty an apple you are?
I can't wear empire anything.
Banded is great for apples I think - it sort of depends on this one where the band hits though the elastic would make it adjustable. Give it a try with bootcuts or a pencil skirt. I think this could work with most any pant.

I'm an apple, and I have been told tops like that look good on me and give me a shape. I do have narrow hips, which might make a difference. Tops like that, as long as they don't cling, tend to hide the weight I carry in front between my breasts and my waist, as well as the tummy pooch below my waist. Empire waists and other shapes that are supposed to be good for apples can make me look pregnant because I'm busty.

I love that shape on others, but.... I'm an apple and personally I find it challenging to wear. It seems to highlight my middle and make me look bulkier. I tend to like empire waist tops or ones that are a tiny bit fitted around the middle, then flare out. That little bit of shape, higher up, helps me create a waist.

Updated: So funny reading other people's perspectives. I am busty but have relatively smaller hips and tops like this make me feel like I look pregnant. The one time I felt good wearing them was when I was pregnant! I love them on my friend, who is a classic pear because she can wear them looser on the top and since she has a slim middle, they don't add bulk. But that's just my eye and I'm in the minority here, I think.

I think it must come down to how they look on you, so there is no escaping it. You're going to have to buy it and give it a try!

Do you think this top would be flattering for an apple shape and if so, what kind of pants would you wear with it? I would love some suggestions as to what apple shape wear for spring/summer clothes as far as tops and pants go.
