Angie, thanks for the heads up. I will definitely need to see how all that works together.

Thistle, I love that observation, and it's interesting because I'm not seeing much here either, yet I'm not sure what to do with using what's caught on here or not; I'm totally ambivalent at times about avoiding "errors" vs. just liking what I like. I like the dark tuxedo stripes (in preference to white on black). I would also like no stripe, and my conservative, keep everything versatile gene would say, similar pant, no stripe would be more useful/have longevity, but these seem to fit better than other ones I've seen, and maybe the stripe actually helps in the illusion.

In my neck of the woods, the tuxedo stripe never caught on. I have never seen anyone wear them here, and I saw a lot at retail on deep clearance.

They look like gorgeous pants Unfrumped, and gald to hear they are still current because I bought a pair recently too. I also bought them for a change to the silhouette I normally wear. I am just working out if they need shortening or what:)

The length and hem width in this straight style of trouser is complete poison eye to me - especially with pumps. I vote shorter or longer.

The tuxedo stripe is not at all dated. Totally still trending.

Mo. I know what you mean re: the stock photos; they are actually too long on me as-is. I will try to take a pic later this week with them turned up to possible lengths I would likely consider.

I would have reservations about the leg opening being a bit wide at that point on the leg. Seems neither cropped nor full length, just kind of in between, to me.

Pat, thanks. Not really sure what is classic now and what is long-running trend ( or any difference!). The skinny jeans seem here to stay and have a practical advantage for boot-wearers; it may be that the ankle pants are filling a similar role by appearing to solve pant length issues with different shoes.

Hmmm.....

I think that yes, wider pants are rearing their heads after a long absence, but until they stand the test of time, they must be considered a trend. These pants, OTOH, are IMO more of a classic and as you described, very versatile.

I tried on this checked tuxedo pant last week and was shocked that it actually seemed to fit though not specifically marked as curvy. On me it is full-length and would actually need hemming to avoid having a big break with flat shoes like loafers. On-line it is listed as polyester, but in-store fabric tag is poly-rayon.

I brought home my usual size to try out at home ; no pics yet and not sure whether to order a size up in case I'm missing out on a bit more fluid fit vs. wear fitted as shown. And in the size I have they are fairly tapered at the ankle, not tight but definitely slim.

I really like them as a change from straight classic trousers and for ease of wearing ankle-length with several types of flats and with simple black, white or bright tops, but wonder if it is on its way "out"? Not to be so trend-oriented, but practical, as in, will pants be wide soon, or are already much more fluid, and I'd be better off saving up; is the fit pushing my flattery limit for pear shape; that sort of thing.

I had found this right before Angie's capsule post; it is sort of like the checked slim trouser (but not as good a fabrication) and again, the style may be intended for straighter, slimmer figures.

Any thoughts on how one decides whether to carpe diem, or hold off and anticipate future trends?
