Nicole - my office is pretty small. The men never notice anything about my clothes. Their eyes never leave my face as far as i can tell (and yay for that). My supervisor, who is female, gave me a quick once over when i first came in, but i couldn't tell if it was just a normal thing we females do when we're looking at one another outfits or more.

I did have an ex-employee (now client) who came in for an appt. today look at my skirt a few times. But she's also in her 80s and did the same thing when i came in for my interview. And i was not pushing an boundry lines then for sure. I think maybe she thinks i dress up too much? Compared to what she wore, i have her old job...but i mean, there's quite an age difference between us....

Otherwise i'd have to say no. We had a lot of clients come in today for meetings and such and no one really gave it a glance that i saw.

I think i'll put it to rest at least for awhile from work. I have plenty of other skirts that are longer. And I'll work on putting it together with some cute weekend or going out looks.

Not sure about work-appropriateness--it'd be too short for me, but I don't have the figure to wear it, either!--but I did want to chime in to say that I absolutely love your whole outfit here, and the skirt especially.

nicoleb,

Do you feel like you were getting stares at work today? (I assume you wore the skirt to work today?) If you felt that your outfit may have been received as inappropriate, then you should trust your instincts.

Aww thanks ladies for you comments! You're too sweet. I'll be 25 in Jan (not that, that's old.) but i have a baby face. :)

I do have a couple pairs of knee high boots. Maybe my flat black motorcycle ones could be cute? I'll have to try. My other pair have a 1 1/2" heel on them and i don't want to add any height since we're already questioning the length.

Aj - i agree. even if it decide not to wear it too work again, I still love it and would probably wear it for a fun night out. I was thinking a lighter colored tights and ankle boots.

First of all, great outfit! I think it depends on your workplace. I agree with Tanya that knee-high boots might make your feel like your legs are less exposed (well, cause they will be!) If you can't wear it for work, I think it's a good "out having fun" outfit.

Hi nicoleb, you are adorable.

When I saw the skirt at H&M during the Boston Tea Party, Tanya and I discussed how cute it was, but we both thought it was pretty short--on the hanger. But on you--it does not appear to be too short, IMO. (and I'm pretty conservative when it comes to skirt lengths for work.) I think considering how your supervisors dress, this outfit is fine. I love how you chose to tone it down with the thick tights and turtleneck sweater--and the necklace is sweet.

You are young, and seem to work in a casual work enviornment--so I say it's okay to wear to work. Also, I second Tanya's suggestion of boots--if you have any.

I am not sure how old you are but you look cute and young and have the figure to carry it off...plus I don't feel like it is really short so I think it is fine with the black tights. I agree with the previous poster that I don't know what your dress code is at work but unless its very strict, I think you can carry it off.

Thank you for replying Tanya! Don't worry about it; i'm asking because i wanted honest opinions. I try to ask my hubby these things and his answer is always "it's fine."

I went shopping @ H&M on Sunday also! Did yours have the 1 one, get one free select knitwear deal? That's where the turtleneck sweater came from too.

That's a lovely skirt Nicole, I saw it in person on Sunday and it is very cute.

I would personally not wear it to work, but I don't know how conservative your workplace is and what field you work in. Or, I'd try it with knee-high boots for work, that way I would feel more covered. But I could be completely wrong about this so please do not take my opinion too seriously.

Purchased a skirt i love from H&M over the weekend but i'm wondering if it's a bit too short for work? I tried to "hide" it a bit by pairing it with sweater tights, flats and a conservative turtleneck but do you think i'm still pushing it?

My dress code has never been dicussed with me so i just try to look @ what my supervisor wears...which is very business casual. Lots of trouser jeans, sometimes t shirts under corduroy jackets etc.

Edit: the link would probably help you decide... http://i19.photobucket.com/alb.....estion.jpg
