This looks like a really good fit for an overcoat. I do find it a fraction of an inch on the long side, but I'd also be reluctant to take it up because I like to be warm.

I have a very similar pair of shoes. I think. I should wear them to work... but I digress :)
The fit looks great. The patch pockets - there seems to be one too many to my eye. Not sure if you can remove that little one?

I love the coat, but to my eye it runs a little long on you. How would it looked tacked up a couple inches above the knee?
It looks like a very nice fit and I like the color. But I'm sorry, I just don't like all the pockets, especially the larger patch pockets. It's a bit too busy for me.

The fit looks good but I'm not a fan of the big patch pockets.

50/50 wool/poly may not be very warm unless the lining is quilted or something. Whether or not that is a problem depends on whether you want this to be a spring jacket or a winter jacket, I guess. To me, wool (esp. in this color) is a more wintery fabric so I prefer a minimum wool content of 70%.

As for the lining, I agree that the slippery sleeve lining is so you can get long-sleeved shirts/jackets into the sleeves. I have tried a couple of Zara coats that had this type of lining; personally I don't like it because the non-slippery lining in the body tends to stick and bunch to my clothes. I prefer slippery lining all the way through.

I am not a big fan of the pockets. It is too busy for my taste. Did you wear a scarf with it? I think once you add a scarf, the front is going to look even more busy.
I vote return, I'm sorry.

I have a jacket that is somewhat less wool: 40% wool and 60% polyester.
Now, I have a lot of coats and jackets so I am not dependent on this one.
Just happened to like the color. The feel and look of it is a plush but lighter weight melton cloth.

My jacket is 100% useless. :( It is not warm whatsoever and, of course, I'd look like an idiot wearing it in a truly warmer, brighter season. It was warm in the store, though. :) Go outside and see if your own blend is up to it.

Also, mine is a little more prone to wrinkling, creasing than most wools would be.
It's a sharp coat and fits nicely. I like the looks of the pockets, but like Eliza wonder about the practicality for gloves.

Love your shoes!

I like the shape and color of this coat on you. Love the fit, especially on the shoulders and waist- nice silhouette. My only bit of a question is the prominence of the pockets. I am not sure how they would be over time for me, but I am an outlier on this one. I actually put gloves in my pockets and these would reveal that and perhaps undo the line more than a pocket tucked in a seam. Someone else would put their gloves elsewhere as I probably should anyways. If the pockets are part of what draws you to the coat, then it is a definite keeper.
Never had a coat with a cotton lining. Does it feel any different?

I would leave the chest pockets- having hip pockets only might throw out the balance of the coat.
The material sounds good, and I have learnt something from bj re. bunching of underneath layers.
Looks like a nice, cosy and warm jacket!

haha, Sveta - maybe flattering because pears should put stuff in them, like lots of kleenex ;-)

Actually, I wonder what would it look like if I just removed the upper pockets. Do they bring balance to the oversized lower pockets?
Oh fun, bj - what did you get?

I tried two different Stefanel coats, and this one has the room I need across my shoulders, for my upper arms, and for my pear bottom. But I'm hoping it's not overall too roomy. In the pic, I do have a couple lighter layers on underneath it.

Yes, if I keep, those pocket flaps get a snap or tack. There aren't any pleats, but they are attached to the coat so that the light backing fabric is exposed around the edges.
i just got a couple of stefanel pieces from yoox too. but no familiarity as to how this will hold up in the long run. i think the 50/50 wool would be good and decrease the poly pill.

this coat fits so great on you especially in the shoulders and arms. is there room for a sweater under there? the slippery arm lining is probably so the sleeves of whatever you wear underneath don't bunch in the pits when you slide the coat on.

the only thing that drew my eye was the chest pocket. definitely tack down the flap, maybe also the pleat (is there a pleat or is it just a patch pocket?)

I decided to return the houndstooth coat I had asked about a month or so ago. It was just a little too 'something' that bordered on frumpy, and needed many $$ of alterations just to be borderline.

I found this Stefanel coat on YOOX and really like the feel of the fit. I have the sleeves tucked under a bit and that's all I'd change -- I think.

Here are my questions/concerns:
1) fabric is 50% wool, 50% polyester. Feels good. Any experience with this brand? fabric like this?
2) oversized chest pockets may need their flaps tacked flatter
3) sleeves are lined with slippery fabric, but body with cotton. Why? Is this a quality shortcut, or common in Europe?

What do you think? What do your eyes see?

Plus, any fit, style, etc. comments are always welcome!
Thank you for any and ALL input :-)
