I like the jacket a lot and it's very flattering on you. The color's really nice, and will go with a lot, but is more interesting than basic black. The sleeve length looks good to me; I like longish sleeves on leather jackets.
I wouldn't worry about the collar at all. It just looks a little smashed from shipping, and that shouldn't last. If it bothers you, try warming it a little with your hairdryer and reshaping it.

love it on you - I don't think the sleeves read as too long - but I'm interested in the response to the scrunched collar - that would bug me too - but it doesn't read as wonky when I see you in it!! That would be my color choice if I was in the market for a leather jacket - I think way more versatile than black or brown for my own needs!!! - KEEEPP!!

I love the color and think it looks gorgeous on you! Agree with adelfa's suggestion that you could unzip the sleeves and fold them back. That's what I do with my motos.

Mochi, that might ease the pain!
JG--that's what I was hoping ! It seemed a way for me to get that tad of extra length that fits my comfort zone, but not look so boxy. I think.

I love the silhouette on you. To my eye shirttail hems are slimming on a pearish figure (like mine as well as yours) because there is no horizontal line across the widest part of the body. Beautiful color, too.

Just to quickly add (rushed thru, so sorry if it's been mentioned already) that Nordstrom has been very nice with me and some others here in regards to readjusting prices on leather jackets that have been purchased months before.

Susie, thanks for the vote!
Adelfa, that is a good idea. They do kind of flare out when turned back, due to the zipper, but I think if I keep it, that would be my adaptation if needed for eating dinner, say. This is a dilemma in being more outdoor vs indoor and ideally it would swing both ways--but the greatest role as a "wardrobe essential" would be for it to be a grab& go jacket for heading out into cool/chilly weather and knowing it "goes" with a high percentage of outfits.

Aubergine, thank you. I guess I will call (or IM?) customer service to see if there've been any issues. I expect I would have to hold on to this one and order another and hope to get lucky--and not have something ELSE not right.

Gigi--funny not haha, right? DH does not understand any concept other than waiting for something to go on sale--largely because he's prepared to do without. I don't want to make this out to be the only jacket that would ever work, but it does tick a lot of boxes. I have not looked much on-line other than Nordstrom's, and looked IRL at my local dept stores and boutiques, so no question I've not searched the universe.

Suz, debra, thank you. I hope that I can figure out the collar thing. From the look of the jacket it does not seem like the collar itself is poorly made or prone to this if stored properly, but I just don't know.

Nice! If the sleeves are too long, it's not by a lot. My nice lady at the dry cleaner hems my jacket sleeves to hit the knuckle at the bottom of my thumb, and your sleeves leave a lot of thumb showing.

What I do when I want zippered sleeves shorter is I unzip by 3-4" and then flip the unzipped part back. It doesn't fold flat but it's sort of jaunty I think.

I think that jacket looks great on you. My one and only leather jacket is about this color, and it really does go with almost everything.

The back hem doesn't look too trendy to me. I haven't seen that kind of hem much on leather jackets, so it seems more like an interesting detail that makes it special, if anything.

And I second Gigi's recommendation to ask Nordstrom what they recommend about the collar.

I think the fit looks nice--very flattering on you. As far as the sleeves go, it seems to me that leather jackets in general tend to have longer sleeves. So I guess unless the length of the sleeves really bothers you in practical day-to-day living, maybe it's not such an issue for style and fit.

I would definitely investigate the collar. I know you obviously ordered online, but do you have a B&M Nordie's close by where you could pop in and ask them about it? Or at least call the store and see if they can tell you whether this kind of thing happens (and how to fix) or whether you definitely need to order another?

Good job at finding the only leather jacket NOT on sale. :^) I feel a kinship with you, as I tend to do that too.

I really like it on you. The colour looks rich and versatile. I love that collar shape and style for myself so I understand its appeal. I think it suits you, and I like the back of the jacket on you, too. I agree with Beth Ann that the style reads a bit casual, but not too casual for your purposes, I think.

I think the sleeve length looks okay for outdoor wear. They might be able to take the sleeve up from the shoulder if you ask. But yes, that collar -- you deserve one that lies properly. So I would definitely investigate that further.

Thanks, E and Beth Ann.
I had wondered if it were too casual though if I were to pick, casualizing skirts is good, and having something I would wear for "everyday" and not feel it's too chi-chi is good for CPW. For trousers I think it works fine though there is a benefit of wearing something that upgrades the plainness of pants. I'm thinking leather does that more than a standard blazer, but some jacket styles might be better than others.

What a rich color! This is a beautiful jacket, UF. I don't think of it as trendy, but the zipper front and curved hem do make it more casual, which is fine, as long as you like it!

I'm wearing a gear jacket with similar sleeve length right now -- it's borderline for me. I like longer sleeves work better on an outdoor jacket, rather than one meant to be worn indoors. Yours doesn't look sloppy to me, and it's not overwhelming you. Could they make the alteration from the shoulder? I seem to remember Danier doing that for Suz or Shannon.

As for the collar. I wonder about that, too! Don't have any experience with leather, so I'm afraid I'm not any help!

The cut is very flattering on you, and I've found that a dark red is a kind of pseudoneutral. It seems to work with skirts & trousers, which is so tricky! If you can afford it and you're in love with it, I say it's a yay! :)

I'm not sure I can see the details well enough to weigh in on the collar issue, but if it will bother you definitely order a duplicate to see if it's better.

I should add, the purpose of the jacket is to have topper that will go over a variety of bottoms without having to match fabrics and proportions so exactly. I think leather jackets tend to do that, whereas with fabrics there are always issues with color matching, texture, drape and so on.

The jacket is intended for outdoor cool, not frigid temps (to and from work, errands) and though i don't wear jackets indoors all day, should be indoor-ish enough to keep on in chilly restaurant or theater.

When I have time I will try with other items. While it is best for fall and winter, I would like to see if this color can be "spring-ified" for cold spring days, with perhaps lighter grays, creams, pinks, beiges, chambray type colors.

Greetings, and happy cyber-shopping to all who are so doing.

I would love some input on this leather jacket--as in, is this "the one"?

La Marque leather jacket in “oxblood” (what a name!). Naturally I have targeted about the only leather jacket NOT on sale at Nordstrom.

Here have been criteria: Collared rather than no-collar, longer not-cropped length but not overwhelming. I am long-waisted and also “long-middled” and cropped jackets just hang out too high above my widest hip point for my taste. For pants I just like my waist covered. But then need not to be “too much” for skirts. I prefer center zip to asymmetrical. Color to go with black, gray, camel, tweeds, and also some browns if possible. Jacket colors considered have been burgundies, gray, some kind of camel- cognac. I like taupey-grays but they have been elusive and also can be hard to blend.

Have tried on whatever is in stores, & ordered 4-5 & returned over a couple of years. Scuba-type seems most
my" type of fit but even Bernardo’s were overwhelming; moto’s frequently have too much going on for my upper body & are too short.

So, when I saw this one, with the kind of taper + flare, I thought it might be "my" fit. I liked both colors but thought this might be better with my coloring/hair and wardrobe. I wasn't aiming for "oxblood" but I think it goes with just everything. I like that the collar can be stand-up or folded back. Can zip or not. Shown with camel pants so jacket will show up better, and with a skirt.

I think it is great! But here are questions:

1-- this is a big expense, which can be love-dampening and make you second-guess. Not the kind of purchase I've made. Could wait for sale but hmm, impatience, combined with, the planets have aligned for color and fit , and stuff sells out. (enabling sign goes on here).

2--Sleeves are kinda long when not moving—zippered, so would not alter.See fully extended and then in motion. I think that is okay? I cannot rely on scrunching--just normal motion.

3—see back view—the kind of shirttail hem is a plus to me, as it fits my shape. Does that lack “longevity” or seem too trendy?

4—Biggest concern—see collar photo. The collar is crumpled as from squishing in packing/shipping. It doesn’t look right as-is, and HAS to be right. I imagine it could be smoothed out, but I don’t know how .If the jacket is a yay-go, should I re-order a replica and see if lacks that issue?
