I do apologise for the horrendous photographs I put up of the jacket on the hangers!

On the other hand, I'm so glad I asked all of you what I should do with it because the inspiration to work with it is sky high now!

Mochi, you're right, it's not THE jacket but could work for now till I find the perfect go to one!

Thanks Ceit & Deborah, I've never tried it with feminine tops and I'm sure the look will really work. I'll put up photographs of that when I wear it like that.

Kim and Karie, I guess you're right about the dyeing part not being an option as the thread won't take in the color. This jacket is about 15% polyestor, probably the lycra that makes it stretchy-

Don't dye it, keep it and wear it! It all depends on the styling, and the jacket is a keeper for sure. No elderly man in sight here!

Yes, I second the equestrian look of this, which is very much on trend. I think an homage to a trend that does not fit the exact dogma makes the trend one's own .

I would not dye the jacket - thread often does not take well to dye and you could end up with a black jacket with brown thread. You could change the buttons or the pocket flaps to make it different/more current. If the fit is perfect, I would keep it!

I love the style - with jeans, boots, and a top in a colour you love, it would look great. Try it at least for this season, then if you don't love it give it away.

I think if styled correctly with riding boots you could make this work since the equestrian look is such a big trend. find examples of that trend and give it a go..

I have two brown tweed jackets in storage at the moment. To my eye, it's the brown that is not on trend, am I right? I could be wrong. Is this why you are tempted to dye it? Mine are in storage because I think they may be "out" but I have a hunch they'll cycle back in again. The colors right now - burgundy, olive -- DO go with brown, and very well. Except the trend-du-jour is to put them with black or -- better! --- navy.

I'm starting to get a handle on this "trend" thing but I gotta tell you... looking over past decade... there are things I wish I had not let go, because they did cycle back in again. And things I didn't let go, that are once again in. So yeah. I vote "hold" if you have storage area for it. Trends are cycling so fast, I doubt it'll be that long before this one comes back in again!

If you did want to modernize it.... this is totally wild guess.. try it over a denim or chambray shirt? With black pants? Or burgundy skinnies? With leopard print shoes?

If I am not mistaken, tweed jackets, especially with contrasting trim, are very big right now. At least here in the UK it seems that tweed anything is all over the place.

I can see preferring it to be black, but I'm slowly coming around to the idea of mixing brown and black which I think would make something like this very wearable.

In any case, I love it and I would wear it all the time if I had one like it!

I think it fits you really nicely. I agree dying is unlikely to be successful. Have you tried it with some fun colored tops like red or teal? Brown is great with those colors!

Looks really good on you. I would say try to consciously make yourself wear it a few times. And if you love it keep it, and if not, give it to someone who will wear it.

I'm doubtful you could dye it and get it black. Black is a hard color to achieve and if I remember right the only thing that takes dye well is natural materials. If there's any synthetic in your jacket it might not take the dye well (if at all).

It's lovely as it is, but if you're not feeling it how about having it altered? Maybe cut the sleeves off and make it a vest? (Just a crazy idea) or get the front restyled to a different cut, change the buttons, crop it...

Can you remember why you bought it? You must have liked it at the time. Perhaps trying it on and styling it might bring back the lovin' feelin'...(I hear a song coming on...LOL)

I think this could be quite on trend. Angie posted about similar type jackets a white back. It is kind of English country gentleman but feminise it and it will look gorgeous. I would wear it over jeans, tucked into my long boots and then add a soft, flowy blouse under the jacket. I would keep.

On the hanger it doesn't look that special but the fit is excellent on you and it looks like a nice tweed. It may not be cutting-edge but it looks like a great, classic blazer and I would hold onto it. As for dyeing, I have no experience in that area.

I bought this brown & camel tweed jacket a year ago and it's been hanging in my closet unworn ever since, because I think it's too 'older-elderly-gentlemanly' looking! Especialy with the brown tabs at the front pockets and shoulders. The fit is good and it's in perfect condition. I would like to either get it dyed in black or give it away although I prefer the former because the fit is perfect on jeans and boots and it keeps me warm!
