Got it. Good to know not to bother with Ryan fit anymore. Much prefer the fit of their slim wide leg crops. Not sure about Avery, haven’t tried them recently.

You don't! Those pants are cut too high into the crotch point. The seam needs to be lower. I have a short rise, and can run into this problem too. The Ryan fit does this on me too. Next :)

Angie - thanks. I have a difficulty computing “rise looks a little short on the crotch point” LOL Do I have a long rise, what is solution here? Is it worth altering the waist when there is this crotch issue? Should I just return them and look for something else? I don’t have much time since ordering online is now taking longer than usual. Any recommendations?

It's tight on the crotch point. Rise looks a little short on the crotch point.

Rear view looks good!

Waist is too big, but that is generally and easy alteration. I do that a lot these days with high rises and my sway back.

Bunching when you sit is not a problem. My pants do that. But the WAIST has to fit, which is not the case here. Bunching is less when the waist fits.

slim cat - thanks, I never thought that I have a slim waist, considered my self more straight than hourglassy or curvy, but I am not good at those evaluations.

It's not a perfect fit but it could be altered. You waist is very slim and I see the most excess of fabric there. The pattern is pretty and I like straight leg shape.

To me it looks like they are cut with too much fabric in the front. My eye is not as sensitive to the too little fabric in the rear issue that Vildy has identified but I believe her.

For me that fold of fabric at the front when seated is a sign of a too-high front rise. I often have that problem where I wish I could transfer some of the fabric in front to the back — and my bum is pretty flat so I don’t know who all these pants are made for!

Anyway, sounds like you have already decided to return these but just wanted to say you have my sympathies.

thanks Vildy and unfrumped. I am not sewer and it is not easy for me to understand what the problem or solution is. But from your feedback it seems that there is no help for this pants and that I should return them.

Still say not enough room for the rear. Look at how fabric pattern slants and pulls in side view standing plus wrinkling under buttocks at top of thigh. Wrinkling under buttocks is a tough RTW fix because usually done at pattern alteration stage. Needs something like a pull up at back waist and you don't have room for that.

I don’t know but good luck.
I also have tended to settle for poorly fitting pants — there are SO many different areas that have to fit. I live that plaid but also it will be more unforgiving as will show any flaws. I am not saying buy dark pants- am just commiserating.
Still myself sometimes trying to figure out what area to focus on and what to tailor. I mostly have had waists taken in but then my tailor also took up some of the fabric in the seat to make a transition and then the pants might feel too tight there. Often the thigh area is too roomy( sounds paradoxical for me but there is often this low thigh curve that I do not need) so at times I wonder if i might have passed on pants that fit well elsewhere and could have been tailored in the leg.

Ok, so I employed my DH to take more photos. I also took a photos while sitting to show you my biggest concern - how fabric bunches arround the croch. Is this normal and if not, can it be fixed?

What looks to be happening at crotch area is same thing as the back. It's not so much a case of too much fabric but that fabric is causing horizontal ripples and that's a sign of too tight/not enough room in width across that point and/or too sallow crotch depth. The crotch seam has a curve and the deeper the curve, like the letter J, the more room for flesh.
Might try a larger size or else - wait for it - does it come in a Tall?
Even though I'm 5feet, I will sometimes need a Tall size to accommodate a long rise.

ETA: also, one of the best things to do for fit is to sit down in the garment. Bodies expand a whole lot when sitting, even in the upper torso. Typical could be 4 inches. So if those pants are not a good size/fit/cut sitting down can tell a whole story about that.

kkards - I am really bad at assessing the fit, that is why I asked for help. I am not sure about crotch area fit - it seems like maybe too much fabric there? But also not sure if the different size is solution or I need different fit style.

I’m really bad at this, but from the front view i thought these looked ok, but the side view makes them look like the are pulling across your thighs, so i wonder how they feel to you? But then again, it could be just because they’re plaid and the way the plaid is looking to me....and now i realize I’ve been zero help...sorry....
but I’ll come back to how do they feel to you?

Looks too tight or else too short or shallow a back crotch curve in the lower part of bottom where it's gripping and doing the wedgie jean thing except it's not supposed to. Don't know your size range but if you normally would take a petite, try a regular and tailor length as necessary.
Otherwise, maybe a Curvy Fit style of pants?

I am going back to office in 2 weeks. My wardrobe is not in a good shape, I need new pants that are staple of my working wardrobe and I ordered this BR Ryan pants. I was not sure what size to order - it seems to be moving target constantly. Have I got it right? I have been wearing ill fitting pants for so long, I can’t decide what is good fit any more. Thanks for your help. All comments appreciated and welcome.
