Aw, thanks everyone for the congratulations and the votes of confidence. It's not every day that one gets married, so it was good to have objective eyes.

For those interested, I think the other items on the Dadadress site are lovely and the measurements seem accurate. BTW, the hem of the bird dress hits me right at the knee (I'm 5'2).

BLB, thanks for the link to the fascinators!

And I will try to post pics of the outfit as soon as I can.

First off, congrats, Tippi.

I really like the dress and especially the shape. I'm also very much in favor of not traditional wedding dresses. And that website has some killer dresses, thanks for linking.

Congratulations! I love, love, LOVE this dress and I love your ideas for accessorizing. Something else that could be really cool is one of those feathered headbands/fascinators, or feather hair pins. They are all over Etsy. Here are some sellers who make them (or make your own! I'm planning to give it a shot myself):

I like it. For an intimate wedding, I think it's fine. The main thing is that you're comfortable and that it feels right to you. You'll be beaming so brightly that the dress will barely be noticed.

The dress is really awesome and different and I think perfect for your special day. I was happily surprised when I opened the picture. I might be in your Mom's age group and I would give it thumbs up. You will love the pictures in years to come because this dress reflects your personality.

P.S. Kyle I can see you looking beautiful in a Diana-esque wedding dress.

1. I agree that the dress is very appropriate and sweet.
2. Love your plans to accessorize. Turquoise cardi is brilliant.
3. Shiny and I may have had the same wedding dress (I, too, regret not choosing something classic and timeless -- mine is Princess Diana-esque -- all the rage in 1989).

Thanks so much everyone for your good wishes and your generous replies!

Some answers to your queries:

laura65 - I did try it on and, miracle of miracles, it's flattering.

shell - I was thinking of accessorizing with light grey pumps and a simple turquoise cardigan.

shiny - This is really insightful. And I love the description of the dresses you chose from for your second wedding! I think my mom is probably going to be ruffled (heh) but the choice, but the dress is very me.

Ana - thanks so much. I am probably getting married and going to the dinner in the dress. We'll see.

bellacville - thanks! I hope I'll love those pictures, too.

Hi Tippi, I think I missed your introduction, so I'm replying "blind" not knowing anything about you. First, congratulations on getting married!!

I personally love the whole idea of wearing a non-wedding dress to get married in. Who needs a traditional gown?

I don't think you need to go demure - especially if demure is not your style!! I do think it's important to look for something classic and timeless and not too trendy, but most importantly, choose a dress that is 100% your style and YOU.

Is this a style you would normally gravitate towards? Is it "You"?

The birds say to me: someone who is playful and probably artistic, with a gentle soul. Probably a nature-lover. While the cut of the dress says someone who is youthful, loves fashion and has a bent for mod. It's a very intriguing dress!

I have been married twice... the first time I went the traditional route, and I was a complete slave to fashion. The marriage failed but even if it hadn't, I would *still* cringe looking back at the photos!!! AWFUL. The dress, while "traditional," definetly looks dated... stuck in 1990. I regret not wearing something more timeless.

The second marriage, in 2005, was simple and small and I actually chose *not one but three* potential outfits - all off the rack and non-traditional. I allowed my daughters to make the ultimate choice. They chose a romantic drop-waist champagne satin dress with cowl neckline and assymetrical hemline.

I do like the dress much better than the first, and it is pretty. However, I wish I had stuck with my instincts and gone with the classic, simple champagne sheath (hits at the knee), with rhinestone-studded neckline, that I bought from BR. But the girls (preteens then) thought it wasn't "bridal" or romantic enough. However, that sheath dress is totally ME - the other dress, not so much. I can't tell you why one is me and the other isn't; it's just a gut thing.

So I hope all my rambling gives you some guidance: the dress is neither weird nor odd. Trust your instincts. If it is screaming "This is soooo ME," then go for it and don't second-guess yourself.

Hi, I love to lurk on this forum and I'm hoping you'll help me with this.

I'm getting married in a small ceremony (just siblings and parents) and I'm not planning to wear a real wedding gown. However, we are going out to dinner to celebrate and I was thinking of wearing the following:

http://dadadress.com/shop/inde.....ucts_id=10

Tell me honestly: Is it too weird? Should I go for something more demure?

Thanks so much for helping me out.
