They can't ring the gift with purchase early or they get in trouble. You could ask her to hold it and yo uwill come pay cash that day possibly.<br /> Fairly standard practice in cosmetics counters - we used to have a big closet where we locked all the pre-sells to keep them safe before gift time. If that's the case it seems like a credit card is necessary for future billing. Other than that though, I've never heard of a store that normally accepts cash not allowing it for a specific purchase. I found what I wanted and the saleslady offered to give me a 10 day supply and if I prepaid for my purchase I would get a free gift which actually includes a product I want to try.<br /> I went to pay and I handed her cash. She told me she could not take cash on a pre sale that I had to use a credit card. I did but seriously what store does not take cash.</p> <p>Is this something that happens all the time or is this strange. </p>
