I also love naturallycurly.com. It is a treasure trove of info. I also use Jessicurl's Rock n ringlets. It really helps me get better defined curls. I will ask for longer layers. Your curls are more defined with longer layers. Have you read "Curly Girl?" I like the layers around your face, but I think Curly Girl recommends keeping the rest of your layers longer to keep your curls clumping together for full spirals. At the shorter length, with the short layers, it looks wispier. When I exercise, or if I'm doing things that require having my hair out of my face, I often put it in two little pony tails. Although, I was in TJ's the other day and I saw a woman who was older than me (I'll be 40 in a few months, and she was probably well into her 50's). She had her hair in two ponies and she looked ridiculous. So now I'm wondering if I'm too old for this look. I mostly do it when I'm going to be wearing some kind of hat--or as I said, exercising. It's kind of a way to manage my hair when I don't want to shower and style it. Hmm I guess I'll start a new thread about this. He said it is much more flattering on me than short hair. This was when I was in my early 30s tho so maybe things have changed. Then I have my DH's opinion to consider too which is that he likes to see more of my neck!:) and his opinion is that the older you get the shorter your hair should be. Don't know if I agree. Then my sister who is also a curly girl says my hair at this longer length has never looked better! I think the longer hair style is more "young looking". That is not say the shorter style makes you look old. For some reason, I just equate long hair with youth. I think the shorter style looks more polished. What length do you prefer? Personally, I think longer hair is easier to maintain. Less frequent haircuts, and you can pull it up or back. And if it's raining, you can pull it all back into a low pony. Hmmm I'm trying to decide by thinking outloud, and I still can't decide which I like better. I guess it all depends on what look you're going for. Young and carefree (long), polished and grownup (shorter).
