Sisi - that is a crazy story. I just found another tear in a bottom sheet and since I'm currently charging my phone, must acknowledge how many phone and laptop charging cords he's destroyed.

Sara - I see Domino making cameos in your pics, but don't recall having seen your poodle.

I don't pick up Domino when wearing delicate knit sweaters. I always change when I get home from work though so it's not too much of an issue. She doesn't shed that much so even though she likes to sleep in the closet on my sweaters I don't have problems. My dog is black but doesn't shed (she's a poodle) so I don't have to worry much about dog hair and lint rollers.

Hahaha, super funny thread Delurked! I loved reading all the stories. Having 5 cats I should avoid dark items of clothing but I just gave up. At my workplace we keep a lint roller because most of us are pet-owners and sometimes we arrive to office covered with pet hair ... Rather than avoiding certain items of clothing, I must be careful not to leave small objects on tables. My cat Gedeon, a terrible rascal, and the only boy among the girls, is a specialist at jumping on tables, throwing down the small objects that he finds there and then making them disappear. I have a funny story about this. One day my car key mysteriously disappeared. I used the spare copy for a month or so and in the meanwhile I went on looking everywhere for the main key. No way. Then one day it came to my mind to vacuum the bed mattress - something I do every 2-3 months. I lifted the mattress and there my key was, under the mattress. For a moment I seriously thought that I have become a sleepwalker ant that I myself had put the key under the mattress .... Then it occurred to me that some time before I had seen Gedeon slip between the mattress and the box spring ...

Chris987 - even in the pics you can tell the black cat is the troublemaker. The upside of our cat, Crush, is that he likes and interacts with every member of the family. That's a pretty impressive quality in a cat.

Delurked, I LOVE that you call your cat a brat. And love reading about everyone's pets

I have two cats, one that looks exactly like your orange guy but is well behaved, except that if I leave my cashmere wrap on the couch he will lie on it and knead it, although he does not seem to shed much not does he do much damage. I mostly take it away from him.

My other cat is black, and a total brat. He likes to sit on my shoulders (and groom my hair) an when he is getting up there any garment I have on my shoulders (and my shoulder skin) are going to be clawed. I won't let him do it if I'm wearing something delicate. He loves to shred paper but preferably some sort of wrapping paper that has been crunched up. Most of his bratty behavior is not related to any of this, but is about walking up to the orange cat and whacking him to start a tussle. We have declared him to be of the sub-species "braticus boyicus". Maybe your orange guy is from that same sub-species.

I had a cat a few years ago had white and grey fur. He was part angora or something and I always had white cat hair on all my black clothes. All he had to do was walk into the closet and his fur would literally drift through the air onto my clothes. Lots of lint roller action in those days.

Minimalist - I need more lint rollers in my house. Must remember on my next Target run.

Bridgie - You are so sweet. I'm glad to share kitty stories and pics. I actually found out recently I'm allergic to cats, so this will be my last one. I have never owned a dog, but think I will head in that direction after this cat. Now I just have to get DH on board. I hope you get your animal fix from others around you.

Runcarla - luckily I'm not that allergic, but plenty of my friends and family are. Sounds like you've had a parade of little characters. Good thing DH is so handy.

JAileen - so cute. I am seriously checking out dogs like never before. I may try to find a rescue to help at to see how I do around dogs.

Bonnie - I've never owned birds, but they do seem interesting.

Angie - you seem to be the exception here to not have to adjust with your little doggie.

Suz - that innocent pic didn't fool me at all.

Ryce - I can just imagine trying to be good before giving in. Your coat sounds like a good solution.

Jill58 - those are some captivating eyes.

Lyn - this reminds me that my cat also leaves holes in our fitted sheets. It's a good inducement to make our beds, but he finds a way into them. I found a couple extra fitted sheets at Home Goods. I'm about at he point of not trying to match my sheets anymore because I'm picky about my sheets, and they are expensive. One more reason he's a handful!

Love cats, but can't get their fur around my face or I get wheezy and watery, scratchy eyes. We can't leave gym bags, back packs, or suitcases open - or we will find Sam inside. She seems to like things made with cordura, and if denied the inside of the bag, she will make a nest when it collapses, or sit atop it if it has structure.

She has 'bad fur' that is wooly and tangles. The vet suggested we get her shaved down. It is weird, but keeps her healthy and less fur flys! After her cut, she feels like velvet, and always gets lots of extra petting to make up for the shame of having a ridiculous 'lion cut'.

Sam doesn't eat or chew stuff, but our previous cat Dusty, put bite marks all over my yoga mat and foam roller. Ranger, our black lab (also no longer with us) ate DH's leather slippers, and a pair of his leather gloves. When he was a puppy he like to knaw on the baseboards where they jutted at corners. He also ate part of DH's truck when left alone for 10 minutes. (He was going to 'retriever school' and DH had left some kit in the field and had gone back to fetch it.) We had to replace the driver's side seatbelt, and sun visor, and the stick shift. The steering wheel and seat had bite marks from that day until we sold it! Ranger was good at pulling screens out from windows! So DH got very good at fixing screens, and we always had a bolt of screen fabric in the workshop!

delurked, what a treat your post has turned out to be. Bet you did not give a thought to the direction it has taken in part. And your cat has become a sensation overnight. LOL. Sersiously, thank you for the second pic of your daughter and cat.. It is so sweet, and made my day or weekend that is. I am keeping it as a favorite.

Delurked, thanks for sharing the picture of your adorable Sleeping Beauties!! So sweet!
When my English Springer Spaniel was a puppy, I could wear NOTHING in her presence except clothes I was willing to have snagged by her nails or puppy teeth. That got really old.
Now I don't have to worry about anything other than extremely delicate fabrics, except when I first come home. Her greeting ritual still involves some jumping up on us, even though she TRIES really hard to calm herself. (In fact, it is pretty hystetical to watch her quivering and making a monumental effort to stay in a sit, which lasts about 10 seconds until she breaks and jumps up to lick our faces.) In any event, I keep one of those old-fashioned snap front "model coats" on a hook near the entry and slip it on if I'm wearing something that needs to be protected. Or, if I'm planning to change clothes anyway, I just change before uncrating her.
So, yeah, she pretty much runs the show around here.

Your kitty is adorable and he sounds as if he has personality to spare. I love cats like that.

Mine is also "into" things. He tends to confine his chewing to lampshades and important papers.

In terms of clothing, what I find hardest to wear are hose, especially sheers. He likes to stretch up onto my legs if I am standing in the kitchen, to greet me or ask me for something, and his claws hook into the fabric. He quickly runs stockings. Leggings are also bad (but I don't wear them much anyway). Even ponte pants can be at risk.

I know he looks innocent in photo A. But: Exhibit B.

On the fur -- he sheds like crazy in the summer but fortunately he loves to be brushed, so it really doesn't affect my clothing choices. In winter, he hardly sheds at all.

Staysfit - that sounds like vigilance is needed to keep socks and gloves off the floor and put away! Even takes them off your feet??

Jane - I love that you want to be coordinated. I noticed when I was finding his pics that like me, I am sensitive that he takes a flattering pic without too much tummy. He should put his best paw forward.

Bijou - so the tap is to get your attention? So cute.

Brooklyn, SF, LP - yes, I can see that white or light bottoms would be an issue. Does Angie avoid this because Sam is so tiny?

Janet - I really should use lint rollers more than I do. another reason to like prints.

Cindy - guess the pants may have found a pet free home after you.

I had to consign my creamy silk Ferragamo pants because of my dog. Mollie loves to sit in my lap in the car. Everything she had come into contact with wound up on those pants. It was a sad day indeed when I gave up those pants

With a black pug and a fawn one, I am doomed to show dog hair on my clothes regardless of color. But I just buy lint rollers.

I can't wear delicate knits around the dogs -- especially the catahoulas because they have no boundaries and are big enough to reach up a paw and inadvertently claw a sweater.

Yeah, I can't do white or light colored bottoms. My dog knows not to jump, but he does lean. He's tri-color (black, white, and brown) so his fur shows up on everything. I avoid polyester and acrylic anyway, but I'm a sucker for wool. Greys and tweeds seem to be my best bet for fur-camouflage. I have a couple pairs of cotton pants that have turned out to be dog hair magnets -- but they're great pants otherwise, so I don't let that stop me from wearing them!

Your cat is adorable. I do not wear anything white. Sophie doesn't jump up on me but she leans on me and that means dirt. I don't mind but I need to dress accordingly.
Sophie also likes to sit in my seat in the car sometimes and not the back seat. We let her just because we are totally under her spell. Dark coloured bottoms are a necessity.

Your cat is a cutie patootie.
My problem is white jeans. My dog gets them dirty in seconds. But I am never gonna turn down a dog cuddle. No way.

I have to be aware of knits and delicate tweeds when around Bijou, because if she paws me (she does like to tap me with her paw to remind me that she is there and wants to play), then it can be sad to see her little nails catch on delicate fabric.
Of course a delightful and playful dog makes up for any minor mishaps!

Such adorable photos. Sometimes I actually change a scarf or top when I am out going to go out walking them, so that I look better co-ordinated. In fact, I would almost go so far as to say that Porridge and I have very similar colour hair and I really like that. I don't think I should really admit this. Nuts!

Hmm, Farley eats socks and gloves........

He can't stand to see anyone wearing gloves and probably mittens. He will grab at them and pop them off. Sometimes he swallows them whole! Mostly we can stop him first. He does the same with socks on feet, or left on the floor. We keep all these items tucked in drawers or on high shelves where there is no way he can get them. Farley is tall when he stands on his hind legs so everything has to be so high up that I need a step stool to reach!
