I'd look around for another tailor - seems very steep!

Tailor made is fantastic when you have a great tailor, they understand your body, and you know what styles suit your body so you can make clothes that really work for you.

Dress trousers are the thing I find best tailor made as they're often the garment hardest to buy for many women.

Welcome lala.

Having something tailor made is a hit or miss. At $400 for a frock, you can get something fabulous at retail level AND return it. I say give it a miss.

Hi Everyone! I'm new here and hope that you can field my question. I'm thinking of have a made-to-order dress done for this spring/summer. I saw a pic of Trina Turk in this month's Domino magazine (I have no idea how to link the pic but if you have the magazine, check it out) and the dress she's wearing is amazing. I've been searching for it but no luck...it's probably one that she made just for herself! Anyway, it's a patio dress but more of a floor-length tunic, bracelet lenght sleeves, deep-v neckline. I've contacted a local dressmaker and have had a consultation with her. She understands my concept and is more than happy to make the dress for me - for about $400 (plus my cost of fabric).
Has anyone had anything made-to-order? Is this cost out of line or what I should expect? Has the made-to-order item been worth it?
I fully plan to have this piece made as a "statement" piece and it will be a summer staple for MANY years to come.
All of your help is very appreciated!
