I saw a lot of that in the 90s around here. They were selling slip dresses with the little spaghetti straps. Not a good look if you wear a big white bra! Often the slip dresses would be worn with little white t-shirts. As a result, white t-shirts like that became very hard to find.

I think that's when I started wearing more sports fan gear... and more black.

An old style coming back! I didn’t really wear it in the 90s because my skirts/dresses were almost all for my conservative day job, in which this style would not have worked.

I found one of my mom’s vintage slips recently and was admiring the flirty pleated hem detail, thinking how pretty it would be peeking out from a skirt or dress. But it would require just the right length of both elements, and I’m not so sure an obvious visible white slip is a great look on someone my age. The styling would need to be very intentional but not overdone, you know? Young people can make these things look so cool and nonchalant.

I like the look of a longer layer with lace peeking out from under sweaters. I have a long sleeve, asymmetrical tunic from Zara designed for this purpose. It’s warmer for winter than the straight up lingerie /slip looks.

Yes, this is comming back from the 90's. I saw this sweater in the B&M shop last week and I even own a few midi satin slip skirts, too (if that counts here).

It was a very alternative look in the 90s. And I had a couple of those dresses and skirts. I would wear it today, but it would have to have good coverage. Then I might feel uncomfortable, wearing it to an event unless it was really sleek. I’d much rather wear it to a rock concert, date, etc.

I like the dresses and skirts and cami's but I am not sure about the satin lace trimmed shorts...

I have a slip skirt - similar to Carla's - but have noticed lace cami's being worn both online and in my real world.

Thank you ladies. It is everywhere even Target. I just hadn’t noticed I guess. It definitely looks over saturated.

It’s been popular with younger women for a few years now. I was interested in the beginning but seeing it everywhere kind of ruined it for me.

Yes! It's a '90s throwback look, Debbie, which is trending and to Carla's point :)

I love the look of a lace trimmed slip/long cami over pants or jeans and under a sweater or jacket. I actually tried it with a piece on lingerie I own and have never worn - a black silk (maybe it's meant to be a nightgown) slip that has ecru lace trim . But it was too long . There's a sweet spot for length for that look to work. I think it looks very cool ! It's been around for awhile now...

Slips as dresses (and camisoles as tops) is a revival from the 90’s. Think Kate Moss and the gang. Silky bits and pieces seem to have been around for a few years now, with silky skirts being ‘a thing’ a couple of years back. I have a silky skirt from ‘23.

I do not get out for brick and mortar shopping much anymore. I braved the mall today with my daughter who is looking for work clothes. We went to Express, Mango, Zara and Macys. We noticed immediately that a lot of tops and dresses for the holidays look like what someone would wear to bed.

https://static.zara.net/assets.....038;f=auto

An example is above. I don’t have a problem with it. I just wondered if this was a new trend. In the different stores they were styled with heels combat boots ect. They were also styled with jewelry scarves satin and faux fur jackets. There were tops like this styled over jeans and velvet pants. Very different looking. My daughter loved it but ultimately not want she needed.
