I think it can be done, but of course it would depend on the cobbler and his skill.
I aked mine about it last fall and he says that the actual price would depend on the particular boot, but the ballpark estimate was $50-70. I also have very tiny calves ( 12.5 ") so boots are an issue for me too. I am very happy now with this new skinnies-tucked-into-boots look.

Btw, I was swooning over those boots too, but the heel is too high for me. I'll live vicariously through you if you end upo getting them!

I don't think an inch and a half will be bad at all. You might want to tuck in skinnies or tights. Try them. They are beautiful.

I think you should try them on first. It's a bit of a hassle, but Zappos is really good about it's return policy, so if there's anyone you should give it a try with it's them! In my opinion you really don't know how shoes are going to look on you until you try them on (redundant, I know, but shoes are tricky!). 14 and 1/2" might be the perfect amount of ease for you, or if you're ever tucking in jeans or wearing socks/stockings. It'd probably be a good idea to go say hi to your local cobbler and get rates too, or see if taking in the calves of leather boots can even be done! Good luck! Those are some killer boots!

Case in point, I think the shaft diameter on those might actually not be too big, but they're 14 1/2" in diameter and I usually wear 13". Too much or not? I haven't bought them or even had a chance to try them on, so I don't know.

Oooh, beautiful boots!

I have no idea if this can be done, though I imagine it would cost a lot. It would be handy for me too because I always have that problem as well!

I have no idea how much it costs, or if it's worthwhile. For that matter how loose is too loose. I have small calves and most knee-high boots look like buckets on me. Does anyone know how much this kind of alteration costs? I know I could just limit myself to boots that come in smaller calf sizes, but I'd rather not. Especially since I finally found these for an amazing price ($120!) : http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7330266/c/401.html
