I'm a die-hard Amazon.com shopper who recently signed up for Prime. I love it, and think it's absolutely worth it.

I find it worth it. We use it a lot since DD was born. Going to the store with a toddler is a pain, and this really helps! I also get special discounts on diapers because I am a Prime member.

You can get almost anything through them, and with Prime, I don't have to hit the magical $25 mark to get the free shipping.

I would probably be sad to know how much I have spent with Amazon in a year!

I have not used the videos much yet as we have Netflix as well. More of a sticking with what we know on that.

I have the student account also, and here's the best part...Student Prime had a free 6 month trial! After that, I got it for the $39/yr price and it included Prime video. Christmas shipping alone makes up for the cost. I will say they have spoiled me for cheap fast shipping though. If. See an item somewhere that doesn't offer speedy delivery, most often I must check to see if it's on Amazon and available for Prime. If so...then someone just lost a sale. I'm all about immediate gratification!

I think it's worth it. We have the $39 student account and we get the movies and TV. Also, if you have a kindle you can get one book a month from the Kindle Lending Library. I read so much that one book a month is a drop in the bucket but it's still nice to get a free book every month.

Amazon Prime is *totally* worth it. I get "free" shipping throughout the US all year long - this means I can send gifts to family all over the place, without worrying about shipping costs. I can also ordering something simple like Neutrogena Oil-Free eye-makeup remover at like 10pm at night, knowing it'll be at my doorstep two days later. That eye-makeup remover will be less expensive than anywhere else in town, and I get it shipped to my house within two days.

I've ordered TV's, cameras, computers, books, household items, clothing - you name it. Service has been absolutely stellar. I've gotten price adjustments, good advice when I asked a question about a product and so on. I *love* Amazon.

I ordered a fancy Samsung flat-screen TV a few years back - and got stellar delivery service. The guy came into my living room, unpacked it all, set it all up and made sure it was working before taking away all of the packing materials and so on.

Run out of coffee and don't have time to shop? Order from Amazon. Want a few new baking pans and parchment paper? Order from Amazon. Need an emergency pair of comfortable sandals in advance of a big-deal vacation? Order from Amazon.

Just last month, I ordered some sandals from Amazon (they had the best price), and they arrived the very next day (not two days, but in one day)...in pristine condition. Unfortunately, they were a bit too wide on my foot. No problem-o. I just logged into Amazon and looked at my orders, and clicked that I wanted to return the sandals. From there, I was prompted to print a free return label. Stuck the return label on the box and dropped it off at my local UPS store. You know what? When I got home from the UPS store (half an hour later), there was already an e-mail from Amazon that they had processed my return and were crediting my credit card. Apparently, just receiving the scanned in item at the UPS store was enough for them to refund me. There was no waiting until they got the parcel. Amazing!!!

I have family in Colorado, California, Arizona, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. All of the gifts I send to them are "free" two-day shipping with the Prime membership. Well worth it to me.

If you order ten things a year (for yourself or for gifts to anywhere in the US), then the Prime membership is totally worth it. It helps a whole lot that they have pretty much everything and have really good prices too.

By the way, if you ever want something overnighted - you can get 'one day' shipping for just $3.99 if you're a 'Prime' member. Something else that comes in handy when you've almost forgotten someone's birthday or need something sent to you or a friend/family member ASAP.

Don't forget to sign up for My Habit - Amazon's 'flash sale' site. You'll get two-day shipping from there as well.

yes!! We've had prime for several years, and don't even discuss whether or not to renew. When the B&m shops close to home stop carrying favorite brands, flea meds for the dog or whatever , we just order from Amazon. Just be sure to check that it 's a prime eligible purchase.

Anna, you are correct. The student Amazon Prime doesn't include movies. I use my college daughter's all the time since in addition to free shipping it includes 2-day shipping if it is sold by Amazon. Of course, not everything on Amazon is sold by Amazon.

Hi Anna, you're in the UK? I just read of an international customer's disappointment with Amazon Prime (fine print seems most of the services are only available in the US - or maybe you could mask your IP)

I had it for a while and really liked it. The reason I don't have it currently is that it was too easy to impulse buy things! Without it, I have to let things marinate in the cart until I reach the $25 free shipping limit, and that curbs my impose buying of small stuff (it adds up!).
That said, I'm considering signing back up. I do have an edu address so it's only $39, and the tv on demand and kindle library sound tempting.

Yes, worth it!

We buy tons from Amazon - baby stuff, dog food, toiletries. It's awesome to be sitting at home on a weeknight and realize I need something random, like dog's toothpaste, spend 2 minutes ordering it, and then have it show up in a few days. Sooo much faster than making time to go to pet store.

If you are affiliated with a university you can get it cheaper (I think ~$30-40/year instead of $80). All you need is a .edu email.

DH has that, and I swear we get everything from Amazon now. So free shipping plus the good prices. And stuff gets here fast for emergency birthdays and so on, so we can still use Amazon when with other shipping times we could not. I'm afraid our B&M merchants have suffered--bookstores and the like. Interesting it can serve as a shopping brake. I have to say, well, I see this now and could buy it today, but DH will want us to get it from Amazon. Then sometimes the mood passes.

I signed up for Amazon Prime to get the free two day shipping. Is it worth it to maintain the yearly fee? I do like the Amazon locker thing so I can get around my package receiving fee.
