One more vote for 'yes'. My own experience with an inverted bob has been positive. Like others though, I prefer longer inverted bobs. Sometimes I think shorter versions can appear harsh and angular.

Until a few months ago my hair was past my shoulders. Now it's a longer version of an inverted bob and it's been life-changing. My hair is extremely thick - I used to have to book extra time with my stylist. Now it has shape and feels much lighter.

Thanks everyone! I think you guys have 3x more hair than I do. Hah! My hair tends to be fairly thin/fine so it doesn't really do much without a lot of layered products.

@ eperdu: Since you mention looking for pictures of "soft" ... This is how my hairdresser styled the back of a bob I had last summer. The layers made it soft, but it was still smooth and framed my face in front. Anyway - for what it's worth.

Thanks everyone! I like short hair in the back which is why I'm so tempted to do it and my boyfriend likes my hair longer so this is a nice compromise. :)

Now to find a nice soft inverted bob picture ...

I love inverted bobs, and had one for six months. It would suit your cheekbones and jawline, and it can be made very trendy or classic, depending on your style preference.

Here's another thumbs up for the inverted bob. There are so many versions of this cut, that you can really make it your own - depending on how short you go or stacked you go in the back. Personally, I like to have a drastic difference between the length of my front compared to the back - otherwise, I end up looking too much like a "soccer-mom" - but just play with it - like someone else said, it is very easy to grow out if you don't like it!

I have to say that for the most part, with hairstyles, I don't care so much if it's trendy or not - rather I think about how it looks on ME. Which means I've had an inverted bob or some variation of it for many years, when my hair was not really long. I think it is a fantastic cut in general, and would look great on you.

I love inverted bobs! As Taylor said, bring a picture so that you and your stylist are on the same page about how steep you want it.

I have never cared for the extreme inverted bobs - those that drooped forward like two panels on the sides, then sharply ascended to the nape of the neck. *That* look has had its day.

However, I think a moderate inverted bob is timeless and would work very well for you. You might consider having long layers cut into the back, to give some lift. They'd also blend with the cowlicks, rather than fight them, and lighten the overall look of a bob.

Go for it! I think you'll be happy.

I vote go for it! I had my hair in an inverted bob for a while, and loved it! I'm growing it out again and once it's long I'll cut it short again to an inverted bob (I grow my hair and then donate it to locks of love somewhat regularly). For what it's worth, it's also not too hard to grow your hair out of the inverted bob and back to the way it is now, so if you don't like the cut you won't have to live with it for all that long.

I think it would look lovely on you! You have a great jawline and beautiful bone structure to support it...I dont think it's passe at all. I think it will become a classic style!

OK - so I've finally got my hair all one length (about chin length) and it looks OK. The problem is that the back never lays nice (even after using the flat iron) and I have these weird cowlicks at the base of my neck that never seem to lay right.

What is the general style consensus on the inverted bob? Is it passe? Too trendy? Just not a good idea at all?

Katie Holmes has done it. Rihanna's done it. Posh Spice keeps doing it ..

What do you think?

Here is my hair now (front) but the back is the same length and just droops.
