It did not end well for a hamster that got out of his cage here once, when we were out...</p> <p>And remember, beagles (and bassets) are not dogs that do well off-leash.&nbsp; Their inclination to follow their nose (both are scent hounds) is just too strong and they won't usually heed anybody's verbal command when they are on the scent.&nbsp; They will dig to follow scent too, many a beagle has broken out of our yard by tunneling under the fence...They are sweet, but not very bright...Good thing they've got charm!
