Firstly I want to say you are beautiful in all outfits, and all outfits look nice for work. But for an interview in an art gallery...

I like 4 best! I tried to put myself in the mindset of an employer hiring (for an art gallery) and 4 sends me back vibes that I would want on an employee:

Simple: this person will not create problems. Solid: this person looks like a down-to-earth, no nonsense type who will actually accomplish her tasks. Stylish (and sense of style, since it is harder to achieve with simple pieces): important in this trade, she lives up to the part without going overboard. The little red touch at the collar is just what is needed to say "I work for an art gallery, not for a bank". Confident: (breaking the all-black line and adding taupe pants): this person knows her body and has a great sense of what fits her yet remaining demure and not making a fuss out if it.

Let's look at the other outfits with these employer's glasses (mean ones):

1: Cute sense of style but a bit juvenile (for an interview, not for working!). Something about this gives off the impression this person is very concerned with her appearance. Will she be concerned with her job as well? Soft bow: Is this person truly serious, or is she going to flake on me at the first occasion? Black Suit: Is this person truly interested in the work aspect of this job, or more there for the glamour, in which case this is not what I want.

2: Untucked shirt: Did she just pull out these items from her wardrobe or does she really have a sense of style? While it is not the first concern, I want an employee to have a good sense of structure and harmony... (there is nothing wrong with your outfit, but since you get only one short at it, and since this being for an art gallery, I would personally avoid the untucked shirt look because of the wrong message it could send to some people).

3: This person is approachable and look like a no-nonsense person. There is something refreshing about her, we'll see what else she wears, but this is okay. She doesn't look like a self absorbed person at all, maybe even not enough, although she made an effort (cute top). She looks like she will do the job and also be fun to work with. I have a feeling she is a hard-working person too. However she doesn't look as "solid" as 4, which really sends the message "Trust me". With this one, I'll have to see, but my initial feeling is good.

5. This person works for wall street, works so hard she didn't sleep last night and forgot to tuck in her top. She looks strict and inflexible. She may give me difficulties in the long run.

(Sorry for the brutal comments. I am trying to mimic what the meanest, most closed minded hirer would think in order to help you!)

Don't forget, employers ask themselves first and foremost these key questions when hiring:

Will we like working with her?
Will she like working with us?
Will she be able to do the work (and therefore make our work easier)?
Will she become a "problem"?

Good luck

1 or 2. Really like the pop of color the blouse adds, and the bow. Polished but also just a bit spunky, which is appropriate for the setting I'd say! I personally like skirts, and would pair that outfit with shoes #1, but I know most women feel more comfortable in pants especially for interviews, and in that case I'd go with shoes #3. Good luck!!!

I think the first outfit with teal shoes and black bag would look nice. You could also wear the nude/black Mary Janes with the outfit.

I think it's a nice blend of "interview suit" with "artistic environment."

Oh guys.. Booties pictured in the second set of photos are black and the pants are a camel/ brown mix in photos 3-4...

Not sure if the brown would go with the teal blouse and black jacket....I suppose maybe if I wore the shoes in #1 or I could do the teal blouse with brown pants and my brown blazer.

#1 with the jacket open. You look fab!! I think this is simple, bright, and shows your style a bit (with the bow) but at the same time conveys some authority. It also looks quite comfortable.

I like the black with the teal too, but for some reason I like they way the jacket looks open in #3. I think my vote would be #1 but with the jacket open.

Have you tried tucking in the blouse in #2 with the skirt? That might be another good option. You've got lots of good pieces here to mix and match - just throwing out some other ideas!

And, good luck!

I have an interview with an Art Gallery on Friday. It is for a part time position.....but I want to make a good impression so I can be considered for FT. I have very few suiting pieces and no sheath dresses. This shown here is about it. I also have a chocolate brown blazer that is one size to big and a chord plum blazer that is one size to big and a bit heavy for this time of year. ( It is approaching spring here in Cali).

If I need to, I have time to pick up something, but I would rather not. What do you all think? I like the black with the pop of teal, but I am not sure if that will come off as too severe.
