Thanks for the fab article, Lena.

Three to five cm is KILLER heel height. My best! But three to five inches is quite another story.

Hi everyone!

I've been meaning to post this article since this summer. I remembered about it when I read Angie's recent blog post about the aesthetics of heel heights.

Here's an intriguing interview with Manolo Blahnik himself http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/b116.....e2340.html

I don't agree with everything he says. I did nod along to his thoughts on hats (he adores them!) and disposable clothing (“I detest this period of fantasy we were in where you had something for three seconds and then you threw it away.")

I find this paragraph about heel heights particularly intriguing, but I also wonder if the journalist made a mistake:

"He makes all sorts of heels but says that his favourite height is 3cm, which is a mid-height. (He also does 5cm.) He is currently also very interested in flats because “they are the most difficult shoes to walk in and be divine and gracious – they make you walk like a reindeer. The last time women really knew how to walk well in flats was the 1950s. You can see it in the movies."

3 and 5 cm, really? Maybe it's supposed to be 3-5 inches? I'm not very familiar with the brand except what I see window shopping, and I was always under an impression the heels were pretty high.

Anyway, it's a fun piece, hope you guys find it interesting.
