The names and divisions between different departments have always perplexed me. I still really don't know how to shop Macy's (I have my own beef with Macys that prevents me from really wanting to learn how to shop there) and for years my mom and I couldn't figure out the departments in Nordstrom. (Now we're more or less comfortable in "our" departments.) If you are curious about the re-design, you could check it out. I've been there a few times since they did the big remodel, and it seems like an improvement to me. One of the reasons I avoid large department stores is that I get so overwhelmed with all of the "departments within the departments" of Juniors, Misses and Petites. Since I'm not familiar with all of them, I'm constantly wondering, "Is this department for me, someone my age, someone my size?" The idea of scaling down to just a few, with self-explanatory names really appeals to me. And I had no idea that women had been on an "accessory binge" since the late 1990's.
