Shirt tail from under a sweater adds extra interest to the outfit IMO. But under a jacket I find it weird (especially in a formal setting).

Another fan of shirt tails peeking out from under a cropped sweater. One of my favourite looks for autumn weather.

Drives me crazy some of the time, because at times it seems like clothes are being designed as if that's how you're going to wear everything, from jackets to sweaters. I can do that for casual but not for work.

I like this trend because I'm always trying to figure out how to make my outfits less flat. Visible layers are one way to add interest, whether with contrasting colors or textures or just the extra visual impact. It also tones down some of my dressier clothes to a level that fits better in my extremely casual workplace.

I do it with my jackets (denim and leather). It bothered me in the beginning but now I find it kind of relaxed and cute. It does make color combos even harder to manage for me because scarves not only have to match bag and jacket, but also the top peeking from underneath. And I can't not care.

PS: I think it actually really works well on hourglasses since the jacket tends to hit higher and tighter at the waist while the shirt continues down your hips, thus emphasizing them and the hourglass shape.

Other YLFers seem to know more about the origin of this trend, but it certainly is one! I really like it, too, both for its ease and cool factor.

Yep...lots of love for that here. You have to get the proportions right and that can differ between individuals and depending on the shoe (heel) you are wearing.

I've been doing this for ages. I think it's actually kind of classic in a RATE way. It's a more casual and less buttoned-up way to do the button-down shirt + jacket look.
I do have a lot of more cropped jackets because they are much easier for me to fit. I also do the shirttails sticking out under a cropped sweater or vest like Parsley mentions.

Yes, I think this is definitely a trend, and I like it. It's kind of nice to not have to worry so much about having jackets longer than the shirt under them. I also like it with shirt-tails peeking from under a short sweater. It's a nice casual look.

Ok, does everyone else already know that there is a trend out there to show shirttails below your jacket?

I mean, I kinda just was watching a whole slew of fashionable women at a local fashion show last weekend, and they are wearing leather jackets and crop blazers with a longer, usually sheer/semi sheer, top underneath. I kept 'seeing' this again and again but it wasn't until this 'ah ha' moment that I figured out how that long top was intentional and not just an accident of wearing a short jacket. And it looks so chic (well to me it does).

Have I been missing this trend for years? Or maybe it isn't a trend, but a style? How do I apply this to my Hourglass body? Anyone else doing this or already pinning pages worth of inspirations like this? Any help appreciated.
