I had my hair colored yesterday (second time in the last 20 years) and rinsed it instead of washing. I also decided at 2;00 to go try to find something since I knew I would feel awkward all evening if I didn't have a dress I feel okay about. It is semi-formal and even though I have a number of beautiful cocktail dresses (two Tadashi Shoji lovelies) I have gained enough weight that although the do up, they are pretty snug and that is not a look I like on myself. Its funny because a good friend tried on one of the dresses and it was much tighter on her and she thought it looked great. I don't see how small the waist looks in it but rather how huge the hips look. Interesting.</p> <p>So instead of packing and getting ready, I went to try to find a dress that would be appropriate so I wouldn't have to shop the day of the event. I found a black v-neck with a grecian style bodice in a heavy double layered knit. It has a small gold ring on one side that gathers. It is just a touch loose in the waist but I think I can either pin or sew the 1" strip of fabric that attaches the ring to pull it in a touch. Now I will just have to figure out shoes and accessories. </p>
