I went back and looked at the navy blazer outfit and that was killer.
#1 is growing on me and I was going to suggest nude pumps & bag (I think this is one way MaryK makes her amazing ensembles work?) but wasn't quite confident enough to do. So definitely post again when you get them. I'd even be curious to see all these with your black pumps. In particular the white shirt outfit I think. Crisp white shirt and black pumps seems like a classic combo that might tie everything together.

Jules, my prior thread about this skirt ended up with me wearing a navy blazer and the blouse in pic 2. I liked that combination a lot. Some nude pumps are on my shopping list as the only heels I have now are all black.

Thanks, Suz. Sadly it looks like I've put on a couple of pounds since the old pic. Ugh.

Inge, thanks! Bj1111 tight boots - such is life with cankles. Maybe the black pumps would be better, or I do have a pair of black suede wedges. I just thought the black would be too jarring. Caro, I was completely clueless to your observations when I started this. I have a ways to go : )

Imo the difference in MK's outfit is that the depth of tones in her blouse match the depth of tone in the other pieces whereas yours seem lighter or darker. The trim on your jacket makes it harder for this to work too. If I were you I would play with the jacket done up, or with a contrasting belt, or go for a plain bright top with or without a belt. Have fun!

i think you need chunkier shoes like the booties to make these more current. above the foot, the outfits look great...esp with the white collared shirt.

the booties seem to be too tight at the top...how about a more open topped bootie to balance?

You're an excellent matchy-matchier, Pil:-) Such a gorgeous colour cardigan and skirt. I love the crispness of 3 and the animal print belt is a great touch (I prefer this look with the cardigan unbuttoned). The other three outfits are also lovely.

I think I like the booties & black hose with this suit because it gives it modern flair?
I do like #5 and #2 best (but try #2 with the booties), so I guess I'm leaning towards a dark shirt with this suit. The blouse in #1 certainly looks like a nice match for both the jacket and the skirt but all together, it is a bit much for me. I would probably keep the skirt and do a dark jacket or cardi, but I realize that's not what you're after here :)
Actually I took another look and #1 is pretty. I think dressed up with heels and a great bag, this would be even better.

Are you saying that picture #5 was the previous attempt that didn't work(in your opinion)?
Because I quite like that one .
My next favorite is #1

MaryK recently posted a photo of her purple pencil skirt and cardigan.
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....at-preview
I tried styling my similar pieces a while back but don't have MaryK's flair and wasn't very successful. These are more attempts, although working only with what is already in my wardrobe as inspiration.

Photo 1 is a more casual top than the other two but I felt the pattern evoked more of the watercolor feeling of MaryK's blouse.
Photo 2 is my AT bubble hem top and a skinny leopard belt. Maybe too much pattern right next to each other? I see now the belt doesn't really show up.
Photo 3 and were just to see how a plain white blouse would work, again with the leopard belt. I'm afraid this blouse needs to be relegated to underneath v-neck sweaters as it gapes in the front. Moving the button over probably won't make enough difference.
Photo 4 is my prior attempt.

For you members on team "not" matchy-matchy this is definitely is not your thing. If I do decide to go whole hog with the match-matchy look - do you find any of them to be successful? Thanks for your thoughts!
