Angie, i think masks are like shoes and bra’s, what’s comfortable for one person maybe agony for another.

rachylou and shevia, yes, I’m dreading getting on a plane with a mask, but its already become the reality in the US, and probably around the world
https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/business-52498345

Yes rachylou raises a good point about airplane mask wearing. I am certainly not looking forward to a 10 hour flight with mask, if and when that even becomes possible. More promising is the early and quick testing protocol that I have heard about.
Anyway, that is a nice looking mask and I am on the hunt for some new designs.

Those are very clever ties! Intriguing. I do like a single-tie design.

So far when it comes to extended wear, I have really been happiest with the modified Marfy pattern Runcarla and I have been using, recommended by Lynn. I do the single tie on the top of the head. I had been wearing them eight hours straight - although I get flour all over them, so it nicer to have two a day. My pretty square pleated one is strictly for lightning-strike store runs.

I really cannot imagine wearing one for an entire plane ride... altho I suppose even a cross country flight is not as long as a work day, but still. How do you eat your airplane food?

This is a very similar design to the one that I have been sewing from a pattern off a website called craft.com.I used elastic for the ties as I found that it ensures a better fit.I agree with you that this design is very comfortable and with the option of putting a wire into the nose piece to avoid foggy glasses. You can also include a filter pocket. They are very straight forward to sew, easy for a beginner.

Thanks, kkards. I'm glad you've found a mask that works! I've tried that style and find it a bit claustrophobic, unfortunately :(

The thin surgical masks are very comfortable, and I knot the elastic to make the mask fit. I wear those a lot.

The Karen Kane mask is too big for me too, but I tacked the elastic to create a better fit. I also added a filter that you can keep in for a week. Now they work well!

I have a fabric mask that a friend made and that works well too.

We have been wearing masks outside for a while. Sooooo used to it.

CocoLion, this is the best mask I’ve found, but i have to say, that I’m not sure i can wear this mask, or any mask for hours, as they make me feel like I’m going to suffocate. But I’m tolerating this one the best so far.
i’m sure there must be some secret to long term mask wearing that i just haven’t learned yet, but I’m assuming that in the next couple of months I’ll learn to live with them

Thanks for finding this! I have some pieces from The Great. All of their clothing is super comfortable and has a classic, well-worn vibe.

I added my name to the chambray mask waitlist.

Have you found the mask comfortable to wear? I put one on the minute a customer walks in for takeout at my restaurant (which isn't a lot, unfortunately). I have surgical masks that I wash with antibacterial foam soap and water each night. They give me headaches or make me dizzy, even if just wearing for 10 minutes.

As we move into the new normal, i assuming mask wearing will be a regular part of our lives. In my city , for the few business currently open, the “no shoes no shirt no service” policies have already been amended to include masks, and I received an email earlier this week from JetBlue that they will be require in the airport and on flights going forward.
So, the search for a good fitting, comfortable mask(s) is on. I had ordered some from Karen Kane, and they were too big. I fiddled with the elastic to make them sort of wearable, but they are really only serviceable for a quick run into the grocery. Earlier this week i saw one from an apparel company called The Great, which i ordered. It arrived yesterday, and so far so good. It loops over the ears, but with a fabric, not an elastic, so it doesn’t really pull, and the fabric loops thru in a way that makes it adjustable. So far, for me, this is a winning design, i also have an order placed for a style that ties in the back of the head.
anyway, here’s a picture of the mask from The Great to show the design, and one showing it on
https://thisisthegreat.com/pro.....4460035177

it apprears to be sold out right now, but I’m guessing it will be restocked, and you those of you clever and talented enough to sew, it doesn’t seem like it would be that hard to do
