Aquamarine - so true. Nothing wrong about Walmart try ons, but I notice when an influencer hawks a brand that never shows up later in their WIWs.

I don't really follow other styists' social media, I will admit. But I think there is much reason to be skeptical, Anne. And LOL--but wise, also--Aquamarine! Angie is a unique treasure in the style world.

I’ve noticed this too, and started to pay attention a while back when a lot of them started posting clothes from Walmart, of all places, in the same week. Whaaat?

Now I KNOW Walmart (at least online) has more mainstream brands than they used to, but when influencers that normally love Veronica Beard start waxing eloquently about shopping at Walmart, my BS meter was activated.

Oh I absolutely agree that Angie's choices and comments are the only ones I pay any attention to (even if I'm no longer buying from Nordstrom) . Everyone else is just "picking" - and for whom?

I don’t follow a lot of influencers, but I what little I have seen tracks with what you’re saying. It seems very geared to the professional lifestyle/wardrobe too, which isn’t particularly useful to me.

I do agree that Angie’s recommendations seem much more independent and client-driven, which I have always appreciated! We see that here on the forum all the time, when she shares items that she sees are successful for members.

Yes, I have noticed that too. I love Angie's review and recommendations, even if I have no intention to buy, because they give me a real picture of a slice of North America style wise. The pushing of product (also saw a lot for Amazon Prime) is not interesting to me.

Thanks, Anne and Suz, for the kind words. Appreciate it!

My NAS shopping process with clients - going in 17 years now! - is different. Every clothing item and pair of shoes at the NAS that is a top pick was fitted on a client - so a real body - who vary greatly in body type. Most of it I see in person, but out-of-town clients send me pics of themselves in NAS items to assess too. And when they are winners, I pass on the info to you in my top pick posts and here!

My clients lifestyles and budgets vary greatly. So the items I suggest do too.

The privacy of my clients is extremely important. I take that TO HEART. I do not share pics of them on social media or on YLF. But I can tell you in great detail about the NAS items they bought because of the horsepower and hard work behind the process :)

My 14 to 15 hr work day starts tomorrow!

I have noticed this year after year. To some extent the sameness of recommendations seems tied to the age bracket and lifestyles (or aspirational lifestyles) of most of the bloggers or influencers. And also to what’s actually on sale, of course! But what I appreciate about Angie’s recommendations is their specificity and range. She includes plus size options and petites. She thinks about her clients with casual lifestyles and those who need business wear. When she looks at denim she doesn’t only look at the high end jeans. She also notes the styles that will work for those on lower budgets and those that don’t meet her quality tests. Yet she also conveys enthusiasm for the sheer fun of it all.

I think a lot of the influencers are just marketers and not discerning.

You know it’s funny, I noticed the same thing - especially the green knit blazer . And the Veronica Beard pieces . I’m very cynical about the whole process . Major marketing program which is definitely targeted at each end .

I follow a few middle-aged female stylists on IG and they're almost all recommending many of the same brands, if not the exact same items: Veronica Beard, L'Agence, Vince, Frame, Mother, for example. These influencers also have a working relationship with Nordstrom in general.

These are good brands, so on one hand I understand influencers recommending them. But it's when the same items are repeatedly recommended that I get a little bit like, "Really? That kelly green blazer is a hot item?" And I start to wonder how many of their recommendations are pushed by their partner, Nordstrom.

Which brings me to my last point: this has made me appreciate Angie's picks even more! Angie's picks appear independently assessed and evaluated and therefore I have more confidence in them.

Has anyone else noticed this repetition among influencer NAS recommendations? What do you think? Am I just cynical?
