If you do get a chance to go to the Taj Mahal, I'd recommend making the extra effort to get up early and see the sunrise there. It's beautiful to see it change colors in the different light. I also enjoyed heading west to Sam for sunset in the desert. Gorgeous!

Aaaah!!! It's my personal opinion that India is a complicated woman :). She has many layers and each is very much a part of her. There is this spirutual side, then the mordern side. There is the hurry burry of the modern metro, then there are parts that slows down to a pace that can't be imagined. There is this beauty in nature that is so unspoilt, then there is the Modern urban jungle.
She is a land of contradictions but I guess that makes India what it is :)

Rajastan!!! My mom comes from a state below Rajastan:). I wish Moni would chime in Because she is the best for this!!Glorious Jaipur with all the palaces, Jaisalmer for the desert safari. It's a experience :)

Many people like to visit Taj Mahal I personally have never been there.

North India.: Foot hills of Himalayas I see you are visiting Nepal. But there is this place call Hrishikesh were the mighty Ganges starts. Many people say the experience is unique. It represents the spiritual part of India.

Kerala is very very close to my roots. Be sure to visit the back waters of Allepy.Take a boat ride, visit the Ayurvedic clinic.Get a oil massage.
Go to the spice markets in Cochin :)

P.S: I can go on and on :D
Let me know if you want more info
P.P:S: Please take your shots as Lyn suggested. Most people donot have immunity to Tropical illnes

Seeing the Taj Mahal was the highlight of my trip. It didn't even look real, even when I was standing right in front of it. If you can, I would add in a trip to Agra because it's really a must see.

Congrats on your trip and good luck pulling together your itinerary. What fun!

If you like walks, I strongly suggest the bird sanctuary in Bharatpur. My parents love that place and vacation in Bharatpur all the time. And if you can, stay at the Laxmi Vilas Palace Hotel there. My friends and I went in 2010 and staying there was the highlight of our trip. (It was a really restful interlude in an otherwise hectic vacation schedule.)

Also, if you're going to be in Jodhpur, do NOT leave until you've stuffed yourself silly on kachoris, the fresher the better! :)
