Liz, I'm an IT, so sensitive to the disproportion. I wonder if the picture you just posted isn't just distorted because of where you took it. Sure, you have strong shoulders. They aren't off in the first picture. I think especially if you'd wear lighter colored leggings under the sweater dress or lighter tall boots, no one would look at you and think your shoulders were too wide. With that said, accents on the shoulders can be tricky. (But I'm an IT who doesn't really care that much that I'm an IT. I like my strong shoulders most of the time. Maybe my opinion is skewed.)

ETA: They both look very nice to me. I'd buy them for work in a heartbeat. Dresses make it so much easier to get out the door in the morning.

Thanks K. No need to choose. I would like to wear them to work.

Also pictured fab new shoe purchase from dsw. Do my shoulders look huge? IT tendencies here.

They both look lovely to me. Do you have to choose? Could you buy both? Do they work for what you need dresses for? The panel dress is gorgeous. Sweater dresses are so easy to wear with boots for the winter. Both seem like good options if there isn't any particular need driving the purchase.

It might be an easy fix in the bodice. Especially if there is stretch. Or sometimes just pulling the shoulder seam up will do it.

I'm sort of in love with #1. It's a bit loose in the bodice but a size down is too tight for work.

The fit on both looks good. I especially like the sheath dress (the leather panels are really on trend I think), but the other may be a good every day one. The thing about a black sweater dress is that if it were me, I'd be likely to wear it when it is cold, which means black boots, which means a lot of black. But styling isn't my strong suit so there may be better options.
I vote buy both (depending on your wardrobe needs, of course).

I prefer the neckline of #1 on you if you are going to be wearing your hair back or up. Both look potentially good. Did you try a sit test?

Should I buy either dress?

Grey with black faux leather panel sheath

Sweater dress

Please excuse dressing room hair. Thanks!
