Viva, I was in Zara the other day and VERY tempted by some of the drapey striped shirts they had ... Definitely worth a look and I would suggest sizing down as they were oversized for the most part.

Thanks all. Really appreciate your input.

I also found a couple at Lucky Brand on sale (see images below) that I've ordered to try.

Sterling and Bonnie: My daughter liked #2 also. Hoping to stop in at Zara while in Chicago this week to try it on. That color is pretty amazing. I may also sneak a look at #6 at Club Monaco. I know Angie has that top and really loves it.

Cocolion: I actually have some surgery coming up and am going to have limited range of motion in my arm for a while, so I will actually need button downs. But also, I like them. It's the preppy in me. :)

Greyscale: Thanks for reminding me of the Everlane tops. Those could be great.

Now that I'm looking, there are a lot of good options out there! Here are some short-sleeve buttoned shirts that are not particularly dramatic but have a modern cut that adds some interest. The Madewell ones have an interesting buttoned back that looks much better in the other photos, so click through to see the real effect. Many of these come in multiple colors, but pink (especially striped) seems to be quite a trend!

Edit: for some reason the Finds widget saved lower-resolution images for the Everlane tops :(

I like 1 and 6 best.

Here are some low cost options.

What is behind your desire for these? I'm curious. I wear button downs for work so am craving tee shirts when I'm not working. But, t-shirts aren't my best look now that I turned 60. Woven fabrics hide my mid-section a lot better than knits, even when I size up in the knits. O_o

I love button down shirts, too. The ones you've shown in your post are really interesting. I really like #2 and would love to try it on. I've had good luck with the Cloth and Stone brand from Anthropologie. I like the softer, drapy fabrics they use. I've added the finds from the ones that I have.

I can’t make any Finds of current offerings right now, but Boden usually does them in fun patterns. If you like conversations prints and so on: http://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/.....ssic-shirt

I have a weird love of button down shirts, but they don't love me back.

Of the six you show, my favorites are numbers 1, 2, and 6. I saw a woman wearing a button down just last week. It was a blue stripped shirt like number 2. She looked fabulous in it.

I'm in the market for a couple of interesting button-down shirts for the spring/summer. I especially like unusual shape/feature details but can also go with unique patterns/material.

I'm mostly interested for non-work wear - that is, at home, around town, date nights.

Here are a few that I collected from Zara, plus an Angie pick from Club Monaco. Do you like any of these? Do you know of any others - especially with shorter sleeves? Thanks in advance for your help.
