Greg and I are tickled ;)</p> <p>YLF FINDS was created to help us organize our wardrobes, and I'm glad you're doing just that! Me too :)&nbsp; I don't know HOW I lived without it! It does involve an upfront time investment, but recording a wardrobe digitally, AND keeping it updated as you subtract from and add to it, is an excellent way of managing any size wardrobe. Using Finds for my wardrobe allows me to see my wardrobe across any category — and as a whole — at the press of a button. It makes it very easy to pack travel capsules, and view my wardrobe in terms of all sorts of combinations. (I do all this by creating collections and sorting categories). I can identify wardrobe holes, spot the areas that need a trendy refresh, and keep a strict control on inventory. It also minimizes closet orphans, and eliminates unnecessary duplication. I know exactly what I have at any time, and <b></b><i>you</i> can view<b></b>&nbsp;exactly what I currently have in my wardrobe too. I find this helpful if I’ve purchased an item and wondering for example what colour footware or handbag would look best. And I completely concur. I also <b>really&nbsp;</b>like your idea of linking to a photo of yourself wearing the item. Did you know you could (potentially) do both? That is, the Finds feature allows multiple photographs of an item, so you could have a stock photo <b>and</b> a photo of yourself wearing it in your wardrobe. I might do that in future, thanks to your inspiration.&nbsp;</p> <p>I love using Finds for all the reasons you mention and also for tracking purchases, what I've edited out in a given year or season, what my current shoe (or bra, or activewear) capsule looks like, and so on.&nbsp;</p> <p>I also agree with <b>SarahDB</b> that <b>Angie's</b> specialized fashion vocabulary is extremely useful. For me, figuring out what's essential, what's signature, and what are "completer" pieces to my style really has helped me fill in gaps and makes getting dressed a lot easier each day. It also makes off season and sales shopping easier and less risky. </p> <p>For example -- I just bought two pairs of sandals and a pair of sneakers on sale. I know the brand, know my needs, and know they will work. The sneakers are fall walking shoes. The sandals are casual, for wearing out on my walks or in the home, and they come in a colour that is within my wheelhouse yet a bit unexpected for me -- bingo. I will wear them to death next year.&nbsp; </p> <p>Without this advanced fashion education I got at YLF, I'd just be buying willy nilly without really any rhyme or reason and way less confidence about how to wear my new purchases. But I've been thinking recently (since we're singing <b>Angie</b>'s praises, I'll hijack a bit) about how useful her wardrobe vocabulary is -- complements, wardrobe basics, essentials, completers, signatures, etc. I think people (myself included in the past) sometimes resist these terms because the way they are defined/used can be different from the way people use them in everyday life. But if you can put that to the side temporarily and embrace the terms (maybe..."relax into it"???) they are SO useful. I have really appreciated having these concepts in my arsenal as I think through how to put people's great advice about prioritizing wardrobe purchases (from my recent thread) into action.
