Mona, you are right; we don't have BR in Kingston, but you can order online here. And I go to Toronto often enough that if I need to return I do it there in store (you have 60 days to return).

But better to do it in the US if you can!

Angie is correct - the BR sweater is mostly cotton, but I actually find it quite warm with a cami layered underneath (or a shirt) and a scarf at the neck. I run a lot warmer than Angie, however! I wouldn't wear it on one of our coldest days, but I know there will be many days that it will be just the right weight to wear. (I have already worn it quite a lot in the last month.)

The Bay has had some cashmere lately too, but you have to pick through it, some styles are nicer than others

Thanks for great suggestions, ladies! YLF never disappoints. Runnerchick, I know what you mean. I never thought I would be short on sweaters. Thank you for these links. I am not sure about the Vnecks but will certainly look at the other options from BR. Merino sweaters would be great. Also, I think you would rock turtlenecks with your short hair and long neck.
Suz, I dont think we have BR store in Kingston but i will definitely check it when I go to USA.
Thanks for chiming in, Angie! I am going to look at cashmere sweaters in Nordstorm. I think they are on sale. Coats, warm socks and thermal underwear are my uniform in winters.

Nice to see you again, Mona!

The BR sweater is fab, but it won't keep you warm. It's 79% cotton. You need cashmere, wool blends, jackets that you can layer under coats, warm socks, and thermal underwear. Trust me on this - I run colder than anyone I have met.

Mona, DEFINITELY try the Banana Republic sweater. It is a really good sweater. You might need the petite vs. the regular due to its length. But you would look super in the white with black, the golden yellow, or the pink with tan....in the stores you can also get a bright green version. It is on sale in stores now for 40% off. And they are always having sales anyway, so you might just wait until you see one and pounce. (I got mine at regular price but it went on sale a few days later; I asked for price adjustment but they only do that in store, so I simply ordered one on sale and then returned it for regular price (with my regular price receipt.)

I second the recommendation for merino sweaters for our climate. If you order a bunch of things from BR at the same time, you can always return them together and they do have quite a nice selection of sweaters this year.

Hi Mona - nice to see you on the forum! It's interesting, isn't it, how different seasons can highlight wardrobe holes that you did not know you had? I, too, thought that my closet was well equipped until it got colder, and I realised that all my sweaters were short, tight, dated, pilled, some combination or all of the above!

I love the selection of sweaters here. Like you, I too have been lusting after the Gap turtleneck that looks so good on YLF-ers but have not felt comfortable about biting the bullet as I'm no a huge fan of turtlenecks. It does look good, though, and I might give it a whirl if I have a chance to at trying it out at a B/ M store. I'm also a fan of the BR striped sweater - have you seen Suz' and Sveta's threads about it from a while ago? If not, check them out, as it will give you a sense of the styling options.

I'm less sure about the other two Gap sweaters - they're definitely attractive, but Acrylic can be a pilling fabric. Are you looking for a more long term purchase? If so, I'm wondering if you might be want to consider a different fabrication.

Have you looked at merino wool sweaters at all? I find them to be warm and, because they are fine gauge, easy to layer under jackets and coats without looking too bulky. BR has quite a nice selection of merino wool sweaters:

I haven't been very active on the forum lately as life had gone crazily busy. I used to check every day but did not have time to comment a lot. Hopefully, i will be more active from now on.
One of the other reasons as to why I was absent was that I have been feeling somewhat uninspired and bored from my wardrobe. I have been trying to shop my closet and figure out what my wardrobe holes are. One of the biggest revelations and quite unexpected is that I need sweaters. All the sweaters I have are mostly cotton ones and are good for spring or fall but not winter. Given that I run extremely cold, I dont understand how come i dont have any nice woolen sweaters in my wardrobe. Anyways, it is time to fix it. Following are some of the options, I am looking at but am not sure which one.
1) first up is the YLF sweater. I adore this sweater on a lot of you but I am not a big fan of turtlenecks on me.

2) Bannana republic pullover recommended by Angie http://bananarepublic.gap.com/.....brafcid105

3) http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....=245926002

4)http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=8998&vid=1&pid=245816112
