Una, I am no help, because we have different-shaped bodies and I'm too poor for premium denim, but I just wanted to mention that I saw that Bloomie's is having a big denim sale--I think you can get 25% off if you order two pair.

Zappos sometimes has the Hidden Hills on sale. As does Piperlime and Nordies - you just have to keep checking!

I like the rise of the DKNY Soho's better - but the HH are much nicer jeans. Great fabric and they don't bag out around the thigh.

Really! I remember Tarzy bought them too. I don't know how they measure rise but it was the only pair I liked out of the 10K pairs of jeans I tried on at Nordies. I don't remember any of the names except the Joe's Provacateur (sp?) which my friend swears by but didn't fit me very well. I thought the Hidden Hills were great with my muffin top.

ETA: If I had better laundry skilz I would have kept them but I always forget about the dryer. I don't mind my L&L's making an occasional trip through the tumble dry but I would be sick if I did that to a pair that cost that much sweet moolah.

Kelly, really? Maybe I should try them. I'm past the point of sticker shock, sadly

I'm confused about the standards for low rise, I guess. 8 inches does not seem mid-rise to me, but I guess it is these days. I like enough of a rise to hold in my, er, flesh belt. *shudder*

Thanks Angie! I have the COH Elsons in my cart at Nordstrom. I think the HH may have too low a rise for me. Most Hudsons do, and it's hard to hem bootlegs properly when they start at 34".

I'm theorizing that low rise doesn't work for me because the waist is closer to the hip size and thus slides down on me because I have no hips. A higher rise must have a naturally smaller waist, right? Because the one good thing about these 7FAMK was that I could not pull them down without unbuttoning.

FWIW, I'm in my twenties and have two pairs of NYDJ. The jeans bag out by the end of the day, but they fit well. If you want to experiment with a pair I'd buy them at the Rack (usually $34.97). I would not pay full price for the quality of NYDJ denim.

But honestly, I think you can do better than the ones you're wearing here, and NYDJ. Don't settle!

I would not give up on 7FAM. Try their jeans cut for petites. The Lexi A pocket is a great boot cut jean, lower rise than these and the knee break is perfect for petites (I am 5'4" and wear these with low heels). You may or may not need to hem them depending on your chosen heel height. They also have a skinny jean tailored for petites, I can't recall what it's called.

The jeans you're wearing look like they are an odd wash and too high waisted for you.

The other jean I recommend for you is Hudson. The back pockets give an illusion of more shapely rear end.

I have a pair of NYDJ and find them to be way too long in the rise. They are uncomfortable on me even though the fabric and quality are great. I like the way they make my rear look, though. I don't think they look like Mom jeans, because they are well made and nicely cut. If you like a long rise, then they are for you. They come up to or above my belly button on me. (Quite different from Dakota.) Basically, waist level jeans on me.

Unfortunately there is a lot of trial and error, but once you find a brand you like, I would stick with it.

OK, so these are the first pictures I've seen of your figure, and I think you would look great in the Mavi Vanessa style. It's a straight leg mid-rise, but the rise isn't as high as on these ones you have on in the pictures. I have them in a nice dark wash and love them! Do they have Mavi in the US? Most of their styles have a 30" inseam option, but failing that there will be a 32" inseam, so not much to hem off. I think they had run out of 30" inseam ones when I got mine, so I just got the 32" and shortened them. They look just fine.

I like them and have a couple pair. The rise comes about 3 fingers below the belly button on me, with the back waistband curved so I don't get a muffin bump (you don't look like you'll have a problem with that though). I bought my first pair from My Shape and they recommended an 8-9" rise (I'm 5'9", short waisted, flat hiney, and a tummy). Have you measured yourself for the rise? Some sites will list the rise in the description and if they don't, I don't usually purchase them. BTW, the side seam is also placed slightly forward, giving the illusion of more booty.

edited to add that they aren't a heavy denim and that may be a concern for you. It's a plus here in TX.

Okay, they are going back. Where can I find jeans that can be hemmed at least 4 inches without ruining the leg line? I'm stuck with straight cut (which I don't mind, but where are they in mid-rise?) or NYDJ (they come in petites), which really, isn't that basically like saying mom jeans?

I ordered these, a size down. SYC be darned! They fit comfortably, except that I'll need to hem them several inches. But are they too wrinkly?

I really need some dressy dark wash jeans (all the ones I thought were dark are apparently more faded according to comments I've gotten here). These have a higher rise, which I like and are very comfy. Do they fit okay? Notice I've got NO booty.

I'm waiting for one other pair, which is in a petite size and is much cheaper...
