Oh, it's a Satya Paul sari? TOTALLY worth it. Their stuff is SO gorgeous and you have to pay the premium if you want that sort of design. I went to their boutique when I was buying wedding clothes but the outfit I liked was out of my budget for that particular function.

If you haven't been to Ritu Kumar, you should go there. I love her clothes and always get compliments on the two outfits I have from her boutique.

Sorry for the slow reply! Internet's been a bit spotty.

@Asingh: I actually ended up going to Meena Bazaar and Nalli, but in South Extension, not Connaught Place. Also hit up Karol Bagh and Central Market. The saree I bought was a Satya Paul one, so I guess I ended up paying for the name, but seriously, I couldn't find a whole lot that I liked! Either there was too much embroidery or the sarees were too simple, so I ended up buying two at Satya Paul, and I don't really mind paying the premium. I'm in Punjab right now and can't find anything similar (by which I mean nice prints with some embroidery overlaid).

@Manidipa: Do you know if Soma or Silverline has any stores in Ludhiana or Chandigarh? I'll see if I can get around there in a few days or so. If I go back to Delhi for a bit, I'll check out your other suggestions! I found a Fabindia where I'm staying (Bathinda! Who knew?), and I really want to go, but my mom won't let me, because we need to get wedding clothes first. xD

@Sylvie: Thanks! Yes, these suggestions are great! I find it really hard to shop in India because I have no idea what I'm doing, so this is awesome!

*waves* I bet that sari is gorgeous! Have an awesome time in Delhi. I would have asked my relatives where to shop but it sounds like you already got great advice from the others.

Check out one of the Soma outlets, or maybe Anokhi for the Rajasthani prints in westernwear, maybe?

And for chunky silver jewellery or antiques, if you're into that, go to one of the Silverline outlets or to Amrapali.

You might want to look for a Chanderi saree from the Raw Mango studio.

A good one-stop for a sweet selection of pretty things (both wearables and others) is Kamala in the Rajiv Gandhi Handicrafts Bhavan on Baba Kharak Singh Marg.

If you stop by Khan Market, I think the Fabindia outlet there is having a tussar and banarasi textile festival --- not just sarees, other clothes too, I believe.

And if you're going to be in Hauz Khas Village sometime, it is worth having a look at People Tree and Les Parisiennes for very quirky prints and some eclectic French things; maybe also Shivan-Narresh for swimwear.

For funkier things, worth looking at Masaba Gupta's store in Meher Chand Market, and maybe stop by PlayClan while there.

Worth checking Swatimodo for shoes too, maybe. She has a new store in Defence Colony (the older address is Shahpur Jat) and can customize for you if you have the time.

Jyoti, hello! I'm from Delhi and would be glad to provide you with shopping information. I guess you're looking at buying traditional sarees. If so, then you must checkout Meena Bazaar! Chandini Chowk also has various shops for sarees but you need to be good with your bargaining skills. Nalli in Connaught Place is the best place to buy silk sarees from. If you want to pick up home decor items or silver jewellery or brass itms then cottage emporium has s wide variety of items. And nothing like Janpath and Sarojini Nagar for some flea market experience. Also, 600 dollars is a little steep for a saree. But what's the material and where did you pick it up from?

And it's crazy! I just blew like $600 on a sari. xD

I hope everyone has lovely holidays, and I just wanted to share. I might try to take some outfit photos when we get out of Delhi and closer to home, because it will be much more boring and I'll need something to do. xD

I actually found a thread on YLF through google about where to shop in Delhi but I tried to find it again and I can't! Any one have any up-to-date suggestions? I'll be going to Punjab soon, so I'd rather try to find some things that I can't find in Punjab (which is a lot of things, I realize, but I feel I've got Punjabi suits and stuff covered). xD

Thank you my stylish Indian friends! I know you're lurking around here somewhere...

(PS. Thank you Ariadne for your amazingly perfect SS gift. I left it in Canada because you don't really need gloves here but I already have a slamming outfit planned for posting when I get back!)
