I've added some finds: The Birkenstock Pisa unisex sandal in navy.  These are non-thong style and "fishermen" style which means they have a woven, strappy, cage look over the toes..  They are striking.  I own them in white and the run wide. Two pair of Naot sneakers.  they do not come in wide so may be a nonstarter?  both in a light blue suede, with perforation in the leather.  The Kumara has a silver accent all around the sole.  The Lalo has larger/more perforations and a cap toe. The description says the toe is round and I suppose, technically, it is, but it has a slightly squared appearance to my eye. The vamp is unadorned and comes up quite high on the foot but the sides of the vamp are cut much lower. The shoe comes in multiple colours depending on your foot size (some sold out in certain sizes). Some that would work for you include: white, black, black patent, navy blue leather, black and white fabric, silver (platino), light bronze (sort of a soft gold), soft marble (a soft greyed pink), rose pink suede (a bit brighter pink but still soft). The heel is 1.3 cm. so it is quite flat. I don't know if it takes an orthotic. Reva has been such a stalwart and loving companion. I can imagine how bittersweet this transition must be for you. You've enjoyed such a strong relationship with her. I hope you will still get to visit her and spend time together.  In the meantime, it must also be very exciting to meet your new companion! I second the suggestion to try Eccos. Many of the styles are polished enough for your overall look. A bright Chili Red looks fun. There is also an orange but I'm not sure that would work as well with your palette. There are couple of feminine florals -- one on a blush background and two on a white background. (Both florals include greens and pinks). Not all sizes available but you might find your own size.  Vanilla metallic looks more like soft blush metallic to my eye on the screen. Rose dust is similar, perhaps a bit "pinkier." Black stone metallic looks like a warm pewter tone. Marine is a nice medium navy with white laces. There are other colours, too -- if you have questions, happy to describe in more details.  Ecco also has some sandals that might offer the comfort of sneakers along with a bit more ventilation. Others to check would be Fitflop and Vionic. Have you tried either of those brands in the past? Your new pup has already been loved for you! I have wide stupid feet too, and I recently got my first pair of Eccos and am loving them! I have run and walked in Nike Pegasus for 20 years. I ideally wear an 8.5W in general, and in the Nike shoe I am a 9 Regular.  I am wearing a 40 in the Ecco. My feet run opposite to yours, so my input is limited. I will say that I have worn Ecco sneakers for years. Recently, some of their styles run wider than they used to offer; while some run more narrow. Sites like Zappos have good descriptions and reviews that often include comments on both width and arch support, making it easier to determine which pairs may work best. Some Eccos are true, very supportive sneakers with thicker comfort soles and others I find more suitable for lighter duty. Good luck finding your pair and all the best in NJ. I also like Nike sneakers and find they give great support. Buying shoes that cater for both genders makes sense, fit is so incredibly important. I'm a big fan of Nike Air Max 1s. They have great arch support and I think would work fine on wide feet. You can pick them up in any good sports store and I think they look great with anything, basically. These are my new midnight navy, grey and pink ones which have just replaced my ancient pink and red ones. They might not be your style as they're obviously very sporty, but they're a classic and super comfy. I don't think they have metallics, though.  I am trying to add a link, but failing---check out the Freedom Stroll model, the Kicks, or the Wanderer.  I have several pairs, and the company's tagline is "ridiculously comfortable shoes".  Lastly, I'm in the states and cannot comment on "available in Canada", but hopefully! As for the school in San Rafael, it's a very good one and almost certainly where I would go if I ever felt the need to switch allegiance from the school in NJ. They've been fantastic for me, however, and set the industry standard for guide dogs, so I'll keep going there for now. I realize I’m now I’m mistaken. I used to see people test driving their dogs with street lights, curbs, etc., downtown San Rafael. I was going to suggest classic sneakers like Stan Smiths or Nike Cortez. The advantage to these are that they are men’s shoes so they will be big and wide. The Nikes come in various colors.
