Thanks Beth Ann! I guess it's a question of how I'm feeling from one day to the next when it comes to these pants, but I'm sure find a way to wear them! You're right that the fabric of the navy blouse is rather flowy, it also has this silken sheen to it, it looks very nice in natural light. And I think it will be perfect on hot summer days!

Thanks Claire! She really is a gem. You're right that this is a very good way to stretch my comfort zone, and I'm glad that she think so too! The pants with the shirt and my denim jacket sound like a good way to start. You're right about the color too, although I've seen guys wearing pink pants recently. The blouse doesn't really pull, although it looks that way in one of the pictures. Because of the shortness in front it closes without a problem. But I'll try experimenting with maybe buttoning it only partway or simply leaving it open completely.

Thanks Mochi! I've already cut the tags on the blouse.

Thanks Shannon!

Thanks Christieanne! I think the stripes with the floral is awesome too, I really like that one. The blue of the blouse really is lovely and I agree that it seems to work better with the jeans.

Thanks Kristin! I've thought about hemming them, but decided to leave them as they are for now.

Thanks Deborah! I'll have fun with these pieces!

Thanks Aida! Love the idea of the oxfords with the skirt outfit, I'll definitely try that too. And yay for spotting that belt! It was a great decision to keep it, I've worn it a lot already and I really like the vibe it adds to my outfits.

Thanks Manidipa! She really is. She just has an eye for what works. She actually doesn't spend much money on her wardrobe at all but has the right eye for mixing things in a way that they look really fab, current and expensive too. I'm going the leave the length of the pants as it is, I think you're right. I've never thought about my crossbody bag emphasizing my waist before, but that's true! And I agree that the drape of the blouse is perfect together with the jeans.

Thanks Fruitful!

Top and pants combo perfect as is - your godmother is amazing. I like your stylings too, but although the pants/striped top combo is outside your comfort zone, it really looks sensational, sass and effortlessness combined.

Wow, you're back with a bang, Astrid! Missed you around here.

Your godmother is a godsent! What lovely picks!

I think you needn't worry about the boxiness on either of the tops --- the fluidity of the material more than makes up for the cut, especially on the shirt. Such a sexy little 'basic'. I'd be over the moon! And I think leave the hems of the pants scrunchy for now --- looks nice and trendy.

I like them every which I'm seeing them actually! with the slim legs of the trousers, the longer shirt length also looks great to me. And you know, the crossbody bag is a great way to subtly emphasize your waist too. LOVE the drape of the navy blouse over jeans --- a luxe interpretation of the 'column of denim'!

Great wardrobe additions, you lucky woman.

Nice to see you again Astrid! I like all of these items, your godmother did a great job with the sizing. I think the shirt is a wee bit short for pants, but I love how you styled it with the floral skirt (great pattern mix, and you could even wear those brown oxfords with that outfit). Love the pinky-red jeans, I like lots of scrunch so the length looks fine to me :} The silk blouse is indeed boxy, but it looks great as long as you're comfortable surrendering the waist with it. I really like how you styled it with the blue jeans, and could be fun with a colorful or printed shoe with that outfit, too.

(Yay I spy that awesome belt in your styling options photo #1!)

Fun gift! She did very well on the top and pants. I love the stripe top with the floral skirt - awesome mixing.
Blue blouse is better with the blue jeans - maybe it's the tonal column making it less boxy? I like the color a lot on you.

Astrid, wow! This is a great opportunity to try some things you wouldn't have chosen for yourself. I want a (fairy)godmother like yours!

The bright pink pants are UNBELIEVable on you! The fit is perfect, no worries. I wouldn't worry about defining your waist when you wear these with the striped top, since the pink pants leave no questions as to your gender, lol! I'd try the striped top, pink jeans and your denim jacket for something easy to start.

The silk blouse is beautiful in its boxiness. Have you tried leaving the bottom button undone to see if that alleviates the pulling across the back? You could also wear it open over a tank. Very nice, all three are keepers in my book. Have fun experimenting!

Embrace the booty! Well, not literally, I mean that as a metaphor, but the point is the same. The fit of the pants is perfect! If it makes you self conscious, you could wear a little longer layer over the top. The striped top has some ease, but the others are right that it would also work tucked or with a belt.

I love the longer-in-back hem of the blue blouse. Even though it's a "boxier" cut, it has a lot of flow in the fabric, which offsets this, and the structure in the collar gives some "form" as well. I think it's a good "waist-surrendering" look for you, although you could certainly layer as well!

Good to see you post again!

Thanks! It was intented to be worn together. Maybe I'll wear them together and just add a jacket or vest for some waist definition. You're right about the blue blouse with these pants being not that flattering, I just threw it over them to take the pictures. I won't wear this combo.

i love the combo of the striped shirt and pink pants. it makes you butt look delicious. i like the blue blouse too, but not with these pants. the length in the back cuts across your bum in a less than flattering way.

Thanks Denise! And the blouse is navy, yes. Or maybe more french blue? I love all your styling ideas, I tried to implement them just now with the things I have at the moment and I really like the results. The first blouse is an awkward length untucked so I had to tuck it, but I'm not sure I would be brave enough to wear it like this. But I'll keep my eyes peeled for a pink or red blouse! The second outfit feels really safe to me in comparison and I'm not sure #3 photographs well but I LOVE this when I look in the mirror! What do you think?

Thanks, Jjsloane! I think the striped top would work well with a jacket too. I just need some waist definition I think. It's true that the navy blouse is boxy, but is it too boxy? I never do waist surrendering, it would be a new look for me.

Thanks Sylvie! My godmother has worked in retail for 30 years, most of the things she got me over the years fit almost perfectly. Makes sense about the shirt being a basic, but that's not a bad thing. I think it'll be nice for a bit pattern mixing like in #2. I think it looks alright belted. I really like the sleeve length.

The fit is impressive for someone just guessing at your size. The pants are great - I can't see what I'd change. The shirt is a nice basic, but not as special, if that make sense. It would work well as a layering top/ensemble piece.

I really like the pink pants on you. A little scrunch or a small rolled cuff look great on these. The stripe tee is ok, I don't think you'd want it too tight so this is ok, maybe with a jacket over it? The blue top is a bit boxy but the color is nice.

I think the pink pants look divine on you! I like the navy (?) blouse as well.

Styling ideas:
For the pink pants, keep the top in a low color contrast with the pants. For example, another pink top or red top. Of course you will be really bright this way, but it might be fun. You can ground it with a neutral blazer.

For the striped top, wear it with one of your flouncy skirts and belt. Because you are right it is a little big in the waist so I advice tucking and belting with a skirt. Pattern mixing might be fun too.

For the blouse, I would wear it with jeans and add some bright accessories to enliven the look.

I missed you all! I hope I'll have more YLF time again from now on. And I have three new items I need your input on, two were gifts.

First I need some advice on the striped tee and colored pants. They were a gift and I can't return them. I didn't try them on for size, they were a surprise. I think they fit well enough when you take into consideration that the person was just guessing about size and fit, but do they fit well enough? I think the shirt is a bit too big in the waist and I'm not sure about those pants at all. I would never have bought these myself! Are they too clingy? Too long? Is there a way to make them work? Oh and they look more red here than they really are, #4 comes closest color wise, they are a really bright pink.

An what about the blue button down in #5-#7? It's cotton and silk and the color is lovely - it didn't photograph that well. Is it too boxy for my curves? It's longer in the back and I liked that in theory, but does it look awkward on me?
