The Loeffler Randal Medium Rider Satchel comes in many color ways, has something like 5 separate compartments of varying size and can hold a MacBook and assorted items. The strap is not removable however. I think a satchel is always a good choice. I like my Rebecca Minkoff Grace bag--also my Fossil Sydney Satchel. If I were to choose just one bag it would be a black satchel. However, whenever possible I really prefer to carry a crossbody bag. I have a number of them, some for everyday, one for evening. I'd pick the expandable, as it can go smaller also.</p> <p>I carry Longchamps because of their light weight nylon; the weight of what I carry is ridiculous, and I am not a commuter. I do like the ability to put smaller purchases, lined writing tablets, etc. in it. The negatives are the one pocket my phone falls out of, and the dark inside on the darker colors.</p> <p>I also carry lesportsac crossbodies on walks.
