High fives to my pale and cool sisters! I think a metallic is the way to go. White and blush and other cream variations just look odd on me (and white unless it has a lot of black on the shoe is sort of frumpy but that's just my hang up - there must be a great white shoe out there somewhere) so silver, pewter, bronze or the like are a good compromise. Plus, instant jewelry!

I don't have anything useful to add but i didn't realize how many pale skinned/cool toned forum members we had! *waves to all of you* Pale with yellow undertones always seems much more common. >.>

I'm making a note of the shoe cream idea too, thanks Vix!

I like the idea of snakeskin for you, but you've gotten a lot of great suggestions here!

Vix, I love the shoe cream idea! I have a couple of pairs of imperfectly-toned sandals, and that may be just the solution. Thank you for sharing.

Hey again Abie --

Thanks! I really am so cool that a lot of the colors mentioned above look awful on me -- hopefully you are a cool-neutral as it gives more flexibility!

My life has been a lot easier post-DIY shoe cream. It's cheap, fast, wears well, and easy to layer colors together, too...and it's also easy to reapply if nicks/scuffs happen.

Pic o' pots is from 2 years ago and all are still in use.

Sandals worn in dress photo were a cream shade, then done in "Silver" -- but I'm darkening/layering that up a bit as it's a bit too close to the original color for my taste.

If desired for further exploration, shoe cream names/online vendor rec in this post of mine:

I have a pair of metallic sandal (small wedge) that I have been wearing a lot recently. They are by Clarks. Sorry this isn't a great pic but you can see the color and snakeskin detailing against my pasty white foot.

I'm a pale cool toned person, though like Janet I tend to tan a bit in the summer, either by virtue of walking around or a bit of Jergens Natural Glow? Last year I bought a pair of "nude" wedges - i.e. a light tan a bit darker than my skin tone. They really are wonderfully versatile and I love them with black in the summer.

This year I added these Jeffrey Campbell sandals. They are a bone color with, in person a faint pink cast. They've also been a great neutral.
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/je.....sultback=0

Dont know of this helps, but thought I could share what's worked for me! Good luck

FWIW, I don't worry about "matching" my skin tone so much as complementing it. Some colors just make my skin look sickly. If a color doesn't do that, I consider it fine.

I have light, cool skin and it seems impossible to find a light-colored shoe to match my skintone. For this reason, I either wear metallic or light taupe. Stone or white are other options, but lately I've preferred metallic or light taupe, as they are more versatile and go with more colors in my wardrobe. Hope this helps!

I am also pale and cool toned, although I confess to using Jergens Natural Glow on my legs in the summer to warm me up, even my skin out, and give me a little color. Honestly, I feel like most colors are fine until I get into truly yellow shades. I have a pair of nude wedge sandals that lean toward a peach tone, and they look surprisingly good on my skin.

But I really like the suggestion of snakeskin prints and soft metallics -- some really nice ones out now are a shade between silver and gold, which makes them especially versatile.

Hi Abie --

Super-pale and cool-toned checking in. Every summer I am on a quest to find what you're looking for (and I have lots of "musts" in addition to color so it's a huge PITA).

Do you wear (toe)nail polish, and if so, do you have any favorite light shades? That can be a good jumping-off point. Also handy to drag along if you are looking IRL.

For me whites, even soft whites, look terrible on my feet. In standard leather, I find bone or driftwood is my best pale shade.

Metallics are my preference since my shoes tend to not have much going for them, ha. Pale (#1-2) or medium (#6) rose-beige is my best nude/skintone match. Lavender patent (#3-4), silver, pewter (#5) and a very pink-coral (#8) are pretty good too. A few summers ago I started using metallic shoe leather creams to turn "not quite right" pale shades into better fits for me...#7 is one such result.

Unfortunately all sorts of weird undertones seem to come out when a shoe is on your foot, so to some degree it's trial and error; good luck!

Hi Abie,

Check out the Miz Mooz "ice" color. It's a cool neutral. And lots of the faux snake skins are a cooler color. Also pewter, silver, silvery-golds (like the Panna Cotta color of the Born shoes) would work well.

I am tiny bit darker than you but still cool toned. I have big feet so I never wear white, not even at my wedding. I like all shades of cream, tan, nude but I also bought a copper pair of sandals that I have been wearing as a neutral

I don't even wear white shoes with white pants but that's my phobia

I'm so confused by light shoe colors. I think white works well and I'm looking for white sandals but I'd also like a nude or metallic.

I'm just not sure what shades to look at.
