I'm hundreds of miles from any seacoast, and over a thousand from the "real" coast that is intended by this. "Coastal" style is completely unattainable and unrelatable to most of the US. Grandmas are familiar parts of everyone’s life, whether they themselves have kids or not. Men can also relate to “grandma” even though it’s highly unlikely they will ever be one. The area I grew up in is commonly referred to as “flyover country”. The word “coastal” is frequently linked with “elites”. There is plenty of resentment there. I see the use of “coastal” as a way to sharpen up “grandma”, to show that she’s happening and current, not dowdy and disappearing. I think the term is more to label a trend or for marketing than a comment about age.  I’m going to consider CG to be Coastal Grace. But maybe you have already seen it.  I must confess I have recently watched "It's Complicated" and have "Something's Gotta Give" ready to go and I have my own DVD of "the Holiday" so am obviously biased.
